25.01.2022 OPENING OF NEW BINGARA POOL COMPLEX What a fabulous way to beat the weekend’s heat! It was an absolute thrill and honour to officially open th...e new $2.4 million Bingara Pool complex on Saturday. Funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments and Gwydir Shire Council, the new 25m pool replaces it’s leaking and dilapidated 33m predecessor, built in 1964. The works also included a new and upgraded kiosk, function room, splash park and modernised toilets and changerooms. The finished product is a credit to the council and community, especially the swimming club, which had long campaigned for a new facility for the district’s youngsters. To mark the opening, it was announced that entry to the Bingara and Warialda pools would be completely FREE this season, meaning there is no excuse for not being at the pool to beat the heat! While I consider myself more of a ‘land dweller’ even I was tempted into the new pool for a unique opening, and, much to the shock and dismay of those present, bared more of my body than I would normally care to...all in the name of a bit of fun! It was a wonderful day for the community and I hope locals and many visitors enjoy it for decades to come. 19.01.2022 A NEW ARTS NORTH WEST WEBSITE CONNECTING CREATIVE COMMUNITIES In what has been a year full of challenges and adapting to a new normal, Arts North West is excited to launch another new initiative for the New England North West, an expansion of the Arts North West Connect program and website. First launched in 2012 as Country Art Escapes, Arts North West Connect started as a physical art trail through the New England North West, promoting arts and cultural venues through hardco...py maps, a phone app, and a website. This original version operated on a subscriber model and at its peak, incorporated around 70 subscriber venues. In 2018, Country Art escapes underwent a refresh and a rebrand, transforming into Arts North West Connect, shifting focus to be primarily a subscriber based online arts directory promoting cultural venues, artists and events in region. From the end of 2020, Arts North West Connect will be taking on a completely new look and purpose. Firstly, and foremostly, Arts North West Connect will be completely free and cover the entire New England North West creative and cultural landscape. 2020 has brought about a complete overhaul of way in which we operate at Arts North West, we have had to rethink ways in which we interact with our arts and cultural community and the ways in which we can best support the region as we begin to reopen to the new norm said Steph McIntosh, from Arts North West. The new Arts North West Connect website launching in the coming weeks, has been separated into sections to capture the myriad of talents and skills in the region, arts and cultural venues, artists portfolios, technical skills registry, comprehensive maps, and events. Arts North West Connect will be an incredible and valuable resource for the entire New England North West region. This will essentially be the most comprehensive database of all things creative and cultural in the region, disguised as a new snazzy and sleek website. This approach of crossing...

13.01.2022 Narrabri to North Star: you’re up! We’re excited to announce Trans4m Rail, a joint-venture between John Holland and SEE Civil, has been awarded the $693 milli...on contract to construct the next section of #InlandRail between Narrabri and North Star in NSW. Due to the scale and complexity of this particular section, it’s been split into two phases. Trans4m Rail will be taking care of Phase 1 - the upgrade of 171km of existing track. Over the past 18 months we have seen 341,225 sleepers from Mittagong and Wagga Wagga and 24,775 tonnes of Whyalla steel delivered to the area in preparation for works to start. Construction is expected to deliver more than 500 jobs to the area and will help our national economy rebuild in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
