17.01.2022 IMPORTANT (Final) Update for the 2020 Season Hello to all our GUFC Family, I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone for keeping football going through season 2020. It has been challenging in many ways, but through the amazing efforts of our Committee, Coaches, Managers, Parents and our Players, Season 2020 was made possible. I sincerely hope everyone has made the most of this season, as at one stage, it certainly looked like we werent going to play at all. I would also like... to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution in following the guidelines, as best as possible, ensuring the Safety of our Members throughout this COVID 19 pandemic. As we are coming close to the final part of the season, we would normally announce presentation dates, to celebrate our players for the season. As this season is different, so will be the way we present our awards & trophies. Obviously, the safety of our members has to be considered, and as such, GUFC will not be holding Junior or Senior Presentation Days/Nights this season. Team coaches and managers will be contacted with regards to collection of end of season trophies & awards and the return of team kit bags. I truly hope everyone understands, and again thank everyone for the support they have given the club this year. I know that Football wasnt a priority for some people this year, as many people faced different challenges in their lives. The fact we did get to play brought a smile to my face, even with the challenges we faced. As I have said before, people play football for different reasons, and to some, they needed the season to go ahead, just to break up the challenges they were facing in their own individual lives. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the season, makes the most of the last few games, and certainly enjoy the company & comradery of our football families. Anthony Severino, GUFC President

17.01.2022 #OnThisDay #OnThisGUFCDay 5 September 2015 - the new women's changeroom was officially opened and named the 'Ellis-Ward Ladies Pavilion'. Here is an excerpt from then GUFC's President, Gary Wall's opening speech: Ladies and Gentlemen... I would like welcome you all to this most special event, the official opening and naming ceremony for the Gymea United Football Club Ladies Pavilion. GUFC nearly 10 years ago commenced a strategic planning process to identify opportunities for improvement and put in place strategies to deliver these improvements over the coming years. It was identified at the time capital works were required to help the club manage and provide better facilities for the ever growing numbers of playing members. The opening of the Ladies Pavilion today is the culmination of this capital works program which has also included the upgrading of our lighting to Australian standards for amateur games, the building of the wall along the western end on the No.2 Field and the covered viewing area and improved access for the No.1 Field. All through these project there were two major supporters who without their help these works would not have been possible, they are both the Sutherland Shire Council and the NSW Government through our local member Mr Barry Collier ... I would like to call on Mr Collier to say a few words [thank you to Barry Collier for attending and speaking at the opening]. In the history of this great club there are many people that have played a huge role, two ladies though are very important in its success and their names are Ruby Ellis and Eileen Ward (pictured below). Ruby Ellis played a huge role in the establishment of womens football, not only at Gymea, but across the shire and Eileen Ward has played a huge role in the administration of the club over many years. GUFC would like to recognise the contribution of both Ruby Ellis and Eileen Ward by naming this building the Ellis-Ward Ladies Pavilion.
