22.01.2022 This photo makes me want to cry. Sharks And Rays Australia say that is a green sawfish which is an extremely rare species on the east coast. They used to be found all the way to Sydney. Its also a juvenile as they only become sexually mature at around 3.4m total length. You can submit sightings from around Australia to www.cytags.com for researchdata collection. Programs like this rely on Citizen Scientists to save species

19.01.2022 One of the main components of your bones is calcium Eating and drinking enough calcium-rich foods or drinks is important for growing strong, healthy bones dur...ing childhood and young adulthood, and maintaining bone mass as an adult. Turns out milk isn't the only source of calcium when it comes to strong bones Calcium can come from dairy foods like milk, yoghurt and cheese; green leafy vegetables; fish with edible bones like sardines or salmon; some nuts and seeds; and soy products like tofu.

15.01.2022 Enjoying the breeze and the view on the verandah today We've had visitors from all over today. Day trippers from Cherbourg, weekenders from Brisbane and locals too. It's been a great day to be a skeleton! Come on out next weekend and bring a picnic. We have brand new picnic tables waiting to be used thanks to Woodworks Museum and Interpretive Centre

12.01.2022 It should be just one more week so if you really don't want to wear one then stay home and come and see us next week. We're following the science on this! #justwearthedamnmask

10.01.2022 The quokka just got some cutie competition . James Cook University PhD candidate Denise McGregor said there had been speculation for some time that there was more than one species of greater glider. "Now we have proof from the DNA, it changes the whole way we think about them".

09.01.2022 For the next few days you'll need to mask up if you are out and about in QLD. This includes visitors to the museum. Our volunteers don't make the rules so please don't give them any grief about this issue. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who is not wearing a mask, won't check in or won't use hand sanitizer. It's #sciencenotscaretactics #washyourhandsAndSanitize #1point5metresmatters #respecttheskeletoncrew Take care everyone!

09.01.2022 I made this! I finished up this crochet project on Friday night. I enjoyed this so much. I am a rank amateur and this is my first CAL and I learned a lot by making this. I really like the rustic look of this so I'm not going to block it or put it on a hoop. You can make one too by checking out The guy with the hook Thank you for developing this pattern! It will be going on display at the museum and eventually I'll build a Day of the Dead display around it to help us all better understand this beautiful tradition.

07.01.2022 How much fun are these kids having? Daniel went to visit them at their centre on an incursion and he had an absolute ball. We hope you'll invite us back soon! Drop us a line if you'd like to know more about group visits. You can come to us or we can come to you!

03.01.2022 Want to hang out at the museum with us? We are currently looking for more volunteers to join our team. Volunteer as little or as much time as you like and learn heaps of fun stuff. Inbox, email or call us any time for a chat if your interested
