25.01.2022 We've spoken to so many of our members in mental health who have posted their ballot on the same day they've received it. Make sure you do the same!

25.01.2022 ICYMI | Our wonderful leaders Paul Healey and Kate Marshall have now been in office for one year! Watch them speak about what has been an eventful debut in HACSU leadership.

23.01.2022 ICYMI | Senator Jacqui Lambie has opposed the Jobs-Ready Graduates bill. If passed, this bill would see the costs of degrees in Allied Health, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, and degrees in related areas such as Behavioural Science, Social Science, Human Services, Youth Work and Community Welfare, in some instances, increase by more than 100 per cent! Now more than ever we need a highly skilled, readily available and stable workforce in these critical social and communi...ty services. Don’t deter them with debt. Keep up the fight!

23.01.2022 Injured Workers Day is BACK for 2021! Save the date and spread the word!

20.01.2022 Happy New Year to everyone in the HACSU community! Here's what you can expect from us in 2021.

19.01.2022 Our office will be closed from 1pm on December 24th to January 3rd for the holiday break. The office will reopen at 9am on January 4th. HACSU Assist will be monitored by a small team for urgent voicemails and emails from our members. If you need us very urgently during our closure period, call 1300 651 931 and leave a message outlining your issue and urgency and/ or email [email protected]. If your matter is assessed by a union official as urgent, you will be contacted as soon as possible- otherwise, your matter will be allocated to an official, and we'll respond to you from 4th January. We wish every HACSU member a happy and safe festive season!

07.01.2022 It's day two of #16DaysofActivism and today, we're highlighting some fierce union women from history. The below story highlights the power of women in union taking action to stop gendered violence. In April-May 1941, waitresses at the Alexandra Hotel held the first hotel strike in Victoria. The waitresses did not have a change room, and they were forced to change into their uniforms in a passageway leading to the men’s toilet. The publican refused the union’s request for a separate change room, and the women went on strike. They encouraged patrons to boycott the hotel, and, well, eventually some stink bombs went off in the public bar, clearing everyone out. The publican sat down with union rep Jean Young, and the waitresses got their change room. Victorian Trades Hall Council
