04.01.2022 Haddow Electrical welcomes the report released by Building and Energy into the Electric Shock at Beldon that left a 12 year old girl with serious injuries. The report found: 1) the accident resulted from the failure of a neutral conductor that formed part of the aerial service cable which supplies electricity to the property;... 2) the ‘open circuit neutral’ fault occurred inside the mains connection box (MCB) attached to the roof of the property; 3) the failure of the neutral conductor caused metallic parts connected to the electrical earthing system, including the garden tap, at the property to become electrically live, up to 230 volts; 4)and the neutral conductor of the aerial service cable failed after it was subjected to prolonged heating. Hoes does this affect you and what can you do to prevent this? If you are getting a static shock off your taps from time to time this could be a serious issue.
