02.01.2022 Did you Know? Surprisingly, diet is not an effective method to control iron overload from haemochromatosis. Many people assume they need to give up red meat or even green vegetables but this is not effective. The only effective means of treating haemochromatosis is venesection. We recommend a normal, healthy diet. Avoid iron or vitamin C supplements (but don’t give up fruit or juice) and moderate alcohol intake.
