23.01.2022 I am so happy for Hagar supporting me and for being with me and my family during this difficult situation. I did not even have enough food to eat. I am really thankful for Hagar’s support. Neary. Neary is a human trafficking survivor and Hagar staff have been walking the recovery journey with her for approximately 7 months. She has been working in a garment factory to survive and support her family however COVID-19 has recently presented many challenges for her. Due to th...e virus, her hours were reduced at work and she moved from working full time to part time. This made things very difficult in terms of supporting her family and the stress of not being able to adequately provide for loved ones and pay off her debt was leaving her feeling depressed and exhausted. Seeing Neary’s situation, the Hagar team conducted a re-assessment with her and her family and as a result Hagar are now providing support for Neary and her family through a monthly package of emergency food relief, including rice and groceries. Our counselling team also help Neary with self-care activities such as deep breathing, relaxation techniques and counselling sessions. You can read Neary’s full story here: https://hagar.org.au/neary/

20.01.2022 Wouldn’t it be nice to have a 2020 reset button? Although we can’t rewrite the past, we can rewrite the future. We are constantly in awe of the survivors we walk with, who have the courage and tenacity to come to terms with their trauma and rewrite a new story for their lives.... This was the case for Ban, a survivor of trafficking from Vietnam who was tricked into being sold as a slave in Saudi Arabia. She had the strength to escape her situation, find Hagar and journey with us to rebuild her life and create a new future for her family. You can read her full story here: hagar.org.au/ban This Christmas, you can rewrite the journey forward for a survivor like Ban. To give, please visit hagar.org.au/donate #rewritethejourney #endslavery #stoptrafficking

17.01.2022 Hoping you have a wonderful time with family and friends. Here’s to new beginnings!
17.01.2022 When survivors of human trafficking first come into Hagar’s care, many of them are escaping a dark situation and are not able to immediately return to their family home. This was the case for Ban. You can read her full story here: hagar.org.au/ban. Therefore, even something as small as providing access to emergency accommodation on the day a survivor arrives in Hagar’s care can be crucial to helping them feel safe and secure.... This Christmas, your tax-deductible donation of just $30 can ensure a survivor of human trafficking can start day 1 of their recovery journey in a safe space. To give, please visit hagar.org.au/donate
14.01.2022 To our supporters, thank you for not being silent. Thank you for helping us to break the cycle of injustice. We're truly grateful.
13.01.2022 Doing some last-minute Christmas shopping? If you have some room to add a little gift of freedom to your shopping cart for a survivor of slavery, human trafficking or abuse from Vietnam, here are a few ways you can share the love. You can even include a personal message of encouragement for a survivor with your gift this year!... Visit hagar.org.au/donate #rewritethejourney

02.01.2022 2020 stretched us as a global community in ways we couldn’t have imagined. As a Hagar global community, we exercised our malleability like never before. We had to find new ways to deliver our services, create new solutions to problems and help lift up survivors (past and present) who saw their jobs taken, trauma resurface and on top of that, respond to crisis situations arising from multiple natural disasters and attacks of terror in the communities we work within.... However, thanks to you, one thing remained true. We walked the journey with every survivor under our care, so that they could take one step forward to seeing freedom become a reality. Because as a Hagar family, we do whatever it takes, for however long it takes, to help restore a broken life. Thank you for helping us rewrite the journey. Here’s to a brighter new year.
