25.01.2022 Come and help us celebrate 70 year of the Hahndorf CFS. Saturday 21st September from 12 - 3pm https://m.facebook.com/events/362203284463012 Thanks to The Weekender Herald for helping us spread the word.

25.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for Friday 19 February 2021 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yorke Peninsu...la - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au See more

23.01.2022 Great article by The Advertiser. Are you Bushfire Ready?... No, what a great weekend to start preparing your property. Thought about becoming a CFS Volunteer?.... Yes, well message us we would love to have you.

23.01.2022 Do you know the difference between a Bushfire Safer Place and a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge? A Bushfire Safer Place is where you can go with early notification that you need to relocate. There are many reasons why a Bushfire Safer Place is declared as low risk including; low levels fuel and there may be man made or natural characteristics that may interrupt a bushfire. A Bushfire Last Resort Refuge is only used if all other plans have failed. They are usually open areas or b...uildings but it must be remembered they only offer limited protection. For more information please visit https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au//list-of-bushfire-safer-places-/

21.01.2022 Great to know we have a Chief Officer who supports our young volunteers. Well done Rylee getting to interview the Chief for your project.

21.01.2022 Bushfire warning icons have changed. With Fire Danger Season starting today in the Mount Lofty Ranges, it would be a great time to get to know them. This will make you and your loved ones feel a lot better when seeing them in the future.

20.01.2022 Just a reminder for those in the Mt Lofty Fire ban district, the fire danger season starts tomorrow (15th November) which is two weeks earlier than normal. If you haven't already this weekend will be a great time to clean up your property. Why not take that pile you wanted to burn to Windmill Hill Transfer Station and make use of their free green waste days tomorrow and Saturday.

20.01.2022 For our last training of 2020 on Monday, we collaborated with Macclesfield SA Country Fire Service to attend a simulated grassfire. It was a great opportunity to work with other brigades in our area, who we would probably attend the same incidents with. We will resume training mid January, but will still be around to service the local community all over the Christmas and New Year period.

18.01.2022 Great article in The Mt Barker Courier highlighting how emergency services volunteers can use training to help the community... Even when not in uniform! Congratulations to our Captain for being in the right place at the right time to help produce a good outcome.

17.01.2022 September 21st 2019 marks the 70th Anniversary of the first meeting, of what would become, the Hahndorf Country Fire Service. To celebrate this occasion our brigade will be holding a number of events during the month of September, including a station open day, where the public can come and look at our memorabilia from the past 70 years, climb on our trucks, spray some water, and chat to our volunteers about their experiences. We will also be hosting a formal dinner, open to ...all members past and present and wider community members who have helped shape our brigade. The dinner will be a time for us to look back with pride at our achievements over the years. It is our hope to have as many former members of the brigade attend the dinner as possible so please share this post to help spread the word. For more information, and to register your interest for these events, please email us at [email protected]

15.01.2022 Hahndorf CFS would like to thank Jodie from Jodie's Swimming School who made a generous donation that has allowed us to purchase a thermal imaging camera to go on our 4-wheel drive rural appliance just in time for the fire season. With this amazing piece of equipment we can now quickly assess dangerous hot spots, conduct people searches and safely assess situations amongst many other things. What a wonderful gift that will benefit our wider community!! Thank you Jodie

14.01.2022 Have you seen this sign??? Taken from the front of Littlehampton CFS station. This organisation is one of many very worthy community organisations and we’d appreciated its return. If you know where it is or have seen anything please get in touch with us or return it to the station.

13.01.2022 Like all brigades across the state it has been a busy couple of days for Hahndorf. Yesterday saw both our appliances responded to defend properties against the Cudlee Creek fire. Both appliances with multiple crew shifts have been used to save many homes. Sadly our Pumper appliance sustained serious damage from a falling limb and was sidelined before fire conditions improved. Luckily non of our crew were injured. ... Before the incident the crew on Hahndorf Pumper managed to save at least four properties in Woodside and assist another crew by putting out their appliance after they had been caught in a burn over. Our 24 appliance is continuing to be crewed and assisting with the Cudlee Creek fire.

10.01.2022 Last night we received a visit and sizeable donation from Margaret Houston on behalf of Christian Care and Share. We will keep you posted on how these funds will help us best serve the community moving forward.

09.01.2022 Such a beautiful morning to remember their sacrifice. So great to see so many local people coming out to honor our service men and women. Lest we forget

08.01.2022 YOUNG ARTIST RAISES FUNDS FOR CHARITY What started as an inspiration by a young artist has raised around $4,000 for the Country Fire Service and Red Cross. Cons...idering what happened in the recent Cudlee Creek Fires, I thought of an idea to paint a picture of a koala wearing a CFS uniform said Tully. Tully said he never planned for the picture to raise so much interest online. I just wanted to paint it for myself and then all of a sudden everyone liked it. We then put it online thinking we could raise a little bit of money for charity. Councillor Narelle Hardingham found it online and agreed it was an inspiring picture. I think it’s incredible how a local teenager could put their talents to a charitable use. I quickly contacted fellow Councillors and we all got together and decided to purchase prints to present to each CFS brigade across the district. This is a very small token of our appreciation of efforts over a very testing time added Councillor Narelle. Captain Greg Liddle is also thankful to receive a framed picture and will be putting it at pride of place at the Hahndorf CFS Station.

06.01.2022 A message from Chief Officer Mark Jones QFSM: Yesterday saw the first significant fire weather for the 2020-21 Fire Danger Season. The CFS and MFS responded to ...hundreds for fires, most of which were initiated by lightning strikes. The majority of the fires were expertly extinguished due to the fast response of our state’s firefighters backed by rapid deployment of aerial support on the larger incidents. Whilst this is the first bushfire test of the season, both fire services continue to work together to deliver high quality safety services to the public across the state. I would also like to thank those who operated Farm Fire Units who did an excellent job putting out smaller fires on their properties, without the CFS needing to attend. These fires serve as a timely reminder that the weather and nature will continue to present challenges to the safety of South Australians. The Fire Services of the State recognise those challenges and prepare to face them together in the best tradition of the emergency services. The CFS alone responded to 163 fires, with over 200 call outs for other emergency responses, including road crash rescue and trees down. Thank you to all of our volunteers who responded to incidents yesterday, and to the members of public who heeded our messages and helped us to keep you safe.

05.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came along to help us celebrate 70 years of Hahndorf CFS. It was fantastic to have visitors to the station come through and see what we are about during the day. 04.01.2022 Hahndorf CFS has recently had a new addition to the station. Thanks to everyone involved in organising and setting up this new racking system. More importantly thanks for the generous donations that we have received from our local community which has meant we could purchase these without any further fundraising. It’ll make lives easier for our volunteers.

03.01.2022 Hahndorf 24 travelled to Lucindale this week to assist with the firefighting efforts, after Monday’s devastating fire which saw both structural and stock losses over a widespread area. 02.01.2022 On the 24th of January 2021 saw the Hahndorf CFS along with many other brigades across the Mt. Lofty Ranges respond initially to a bushfire at Cherry Gardens. Due to climatic conditions the bushfire front quickly spread, encompassing many townships in the Adelaide Hills region. Responding early as part of a strike team, Hahndorf CFS kept crews on the ground almost continuously over the past 24 hours, often facing challenging, dangerous, and volatile conditions. Our volunteers remain committed to continuing our firefighting efforts until this fire has been declared safe.

01.01.2022 Today was the annual Hahndorf Lions Swap Meet. This is our biggest fundraising event for 2021. So, a big THANK YOU to everyone who came and supported us today.

01.01.2022 Tonight both the Hahndorf and Littlehampton CFS Brigades received a very generous donation from Prancing Pony Brewery. These donations were made up from all the proceeds of their weekly meat tray raffles over the last 6 months, which were then matched dollar for dollar from Prancing Pony. We are sure this money will be put to great use, and we are very grateful for the community support which we receive.
