25.01.2022 Hurray... at last...

24.01.2022 It’s getting better! Now let’s work on the Mutual Builders Licence?

18.01.2022 NEWSAug 25 2020 BREAKING: 50km bubble to return by YARRAWONGA CHRONICLE Families and businesses on the Victoria-New South Wales border will be relieved at the announcement of a return to the 50km ‘border bubble’. Victorian Nationals Leader Peter Walsh confirmed the change immediately after his meeting with NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro in Albury today, August 25. Tremendous first step with the Deputy Premier announcing a return to the 50km border bubble to get daily life ...back to normal for our cross-border residents, Mr Walsh said. We've been to hell and back with these border closures. Whether it's not being able to go to school, access health services or buy groceries, it's been a tough few weeks. Mr Walsh said on his Facebook page that his meeting was very productive with the NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro where he pushed to get some common sense into the border closures. Thank you for listening to our communities, but more still needs to be done. I'll keep pushing for changes to make sure farmers, shearers and hay and grain contractors can get to where they need to be north of the border. I'm also seeking further information on what communities near the edge of the 50km bubble can expect. Permits should be available in the next week or so. Mr Barilaro said over the next 10 days, the NSW Government will look to extend the ‘Border Zone’ from 2.5km back to the original 50km, with a couple of additional adjustments to give more freedom to those on both sides of the border to work and function as a community. Local member Justin Clancy will co-chair the new Southern Borders Recovery Committee to look at economic and social impacts of the border closure as well as a recovery package for the tourism industry, Mr Barilaro said. Further changes we are working towards include allowing the agriculture workforce to travel across the border, initially within a 100km radius, and creating quarantine areas closer to the border. Mr Barilaro thanked the Member for Albury, Justin Clancy and Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke for their tireless work. Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke welcomed the news of the border zone extension. Council welcomes the announcement on the easing of border restrictions and looks forward to receiving official notification on what this easing looks like in the coming days, Mayor Bourke said. The local community was crying out for a solution to strict border closures that are causing chaos and confusion and making it impossible to go about daily life. Mr Walsh said constant changes to the NSW Government’s permit system are not workable for farmers, families and businesses that rely on their cross-border counterparts for access to essential goods and services.
