17.01.2022 When should you put a Coat or Jumper on your pooch?? The cold of winter has hit and we are already giving the coat lecture to a few clients Dog Jumpers and Co...ats can definitely be used to keep your dog warm if they are a short coated pooch or are elderly- think Daschunds, staffies, Kelpies or cattle dogs basically dogs with less then 2cm of hair! But if you have a long haired fluffy dog ( over 2cm of hair) you can actually do a lot of damage putting a coat on your dog!!! How? 1) the Coat or jumper will rub on the long hair causing huge knots and Matts and by September you could have a pelt that needs to be shaved off short 2) when your dogs hair knots together it causes breakage and the skin can get pulled uncomfortably and skin issues can start under the Matts 3) dogs can over heat! The longer and thicker their natural coat is the more chance of your dog overheating! Ive heard of several dogs who have died in winter from overheating - if they are inside with a fire or house heating, plus have warm beds and blankets or sleep with you- then their natural coat is enough! 4) dog coats and jumpers are the latest craze and its another way we humanise our dogs- we forget lots of dogs have a natural jacket on already! It is very easy for us to tell if your long coated dog is wearing a coat- if it is we would prefer to do a shorter clip on them. If you want to keep their hair long- dont use coats or jumpers on them! Also be aware of your short coated dogs temperature- I had a Daschund in the other day who was extremely hot under his beautiful big jacket! If he lived outside on cold nights it would be perfect but if he was inside a heated house it could overheat him! Please use common sense when it comes to your dog wearing coats and jumpers- if you are unsure if they should or not - just ask us

16.01.2022 Dear friends @georgieclumber came to stay with us some time ago. He is a great dog, great nature and good with other dogs. His wonderful family rescued him ...after their dog passed on. His dad swung by home today and told me he lost his job due to COVID-19 and hasnt been able to secure any employment since. He is interested in doing some pet sitting, day care and overnight care. Georgie is happy for visitors to come and join his family. Many of you know that we are fully booked for the rest of the year and heavily booked for 2021. His dad is worth his salt, a good bloke ( for a Kiwi ) and of course, a dog lover. The family lives in Wakerley, not far from Manly Road. If you can share this post, please do. 07.01.2022 This gorgeous munchkin has been very under the weather so he hasnt been groomed for awhile so we have gone back to basics, hes had a wonderful long warm bath, massage and blow dry, an all off hair cut and we will be bringing him back to his former glory over the next few weeks. He is the kindest and most gentle of souls
