25.01.2022 SHAUN O’CONNOR Our first Q&A is with none other than our Hall Axeman Founder and President Shaun. How long have you been woodchopping for? ... Almost 6 years chopping How did you get into woodchopping? I decided to do something physical after years of playing rugby that wasn’t so intense on the knees. Woodchopping fitted the category and now I am so addicted to it, I have sawdust in my blood!! It wasn’t easy to get a start in this area, I contacted people all over the place, until I eventually got some training from a few locals in Canberra. This process to start took just over a year and another four months before my first competition at the Milton Timberfest. Favorite woodchopping show? The Hall Street Party. Where did you win your first ribbon? At Yass Show Random Fact about yourself? I have travelled to more than 30 countries.

13.01.2022 MICK O’CONNOR Our next Q&A is with Mick, yet another O’Connor at Hall! How long have you been woodchopping for? ... I have been chopping for two and a half years. How did you get into woodchopping? I had a bad injury playing footy 10 years ago and needed a new sport. Shaun is my cousin, he asked me to come out and have a go, I went out to Hall, had a swing and went in my first competition 2 weeks later. I was and still am hooked! Favorite woodchopping show? I love the Royal Sydney Show, the experience of being around the best and meeting heaps of people that help out along the way is awesome. My favorite country show is Araluen Sports Day, it is great woodchop and awesome day for our whole family. Where did you win your first ribbon? Two weeks after picking up an axe I competed at Araluen, Cheyanne and I won the Double Handed Sawing after I literally had never picked up a saw before. Random Fact about yourself? I can do a headstand and skull a beer upside down (haven’t done it for a few years now )

09.01.2022 WILL GUTTLER Our next Q&A is with Will, one of the nicest guys you will meet woodchopping! How long have you been woodchopping for? ... I have been chopping for two and a half years. How did you get into woodchopping? I use to play rugby with Shaun and Mick O’Connor 10 years ago and caught up with them at a woodchopping demonstration at the Hall Markets, I said I was interested and they invited me along to have a go and I’m still here. Favorite woodchopping show? I think my favourite show would have to be the Canberra Show because I don’t have to travel for one, but also it has plenty of events for a novice such as myself to enter in to. Where did you win your first ribbon? I won my first ribbon at Candelo Show in a novice standing block. Random Fact about yourself? I can juggle (not overly well anymore) and I can walk on stilts.
