20.01.2022 UPDATE 22 May 2020 As previously announced, the Board of The Ian Potter Foundation agreed in April to change its approach to grantmaking for the remainder of 2020 due to the unfolding health and economic crises caused by the combination of Australias devastating bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. We can confirm that funding rounds 2 and 3 this year will NOT open. For the remainder of 2020, the Foundation will consider grant applications by invitation only.... Since late March, we have received hundreds of enquiries from the not-for-profit sector regarding their funding needs. We thank those organisations who have submitted their enquiry and been patient while our program managers have reviewed these and determined which are of interest to the Foundation. We now have more than ample funding opportunities to consider and so we will not be considering any further funding requests for the 2020 calendar year. We are no longer accepting inbound funding enquiries and have therefore closed the temporary Grantseeker Enquiry form. For further funding round information please check our latest update on our website: https://www.ianpotter.org.au//changes-to-dates-for-fundin/

11.01.2022 There are an estimated 30,000 sites of rock art in the Warddeken Indigenous Protected Area of west Arnhem Land that face tangible threats from feral animals, uncontrolled fire and vegetation overgrowth; and intangible threats such as the loss of customary knowledge and Indigenous connection to place. The Karrkad Kanjdji Trust, in partnership with Warddeken Land Management Ltd, employs Indigenous Rangers to systematically record and conserve cultural heritage, particularly roc...k art, in West Arnhem Land - recording and protecting what is arguably the largest collection of undocumented, and threatened, rock art galleries in the world. 09.01.2022 Congratulations to the Mayi Kuwayu Study of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing research team on recently reaching the 10,000 survey respondents milestone. The Mayi Kuwayu Study looks at how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing is linked to things like connection to country, cultural practices, spirituality and language use. The research team will follow a large number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and ask about their culture and wellb...eing. As a longitudinal study, researchers will survey people and then ask them to take the same survey every few years, so that they can understand what influences changes over time. This is the first time a national study of this type has been done and will provide an evidence base to allow for the creation of better policies and programs. 07.01.2022 Were pleased to share some good news today from ClimateWorks Australia. Several of Australias biggest companies from the resources, energy, chemical products & services, banking and finance sectors have signed on to the Australian Industry Energy Transitions Initiative (ETI). ClimateWorks Australia is a co-convenor of the ETI along with Climate-KIC Australia and the Energy Transitions Commission. This initiative aims to harness industry knowledge to develop pathways and ac...tions that can accelerate emissions reductions across whole supply chains in sectors where abatement has traditionally faced structural challenges. Specifically, it will focus on opportunities across five supply chains which collectively contribute more than a quarter of Australias annual greenhouse gas emissions and generate exports worth around $160 billion. These include steel, aluminium, liquified natural gas, other metals (such as lithium, copper and nickel) and chemicals (including explosives and fertiliser). ClimateWorks CEO Anna Skarbek said, Globally, many countries and businesses are already moving to decarbonise supply chains in heavy industry sectors. There are huge opportunities for Australian businesses if they take a proactive approach to getting into this race. Were pleased to be working with Australian industry participants to develop pathways and actions to support net zero emissions across critical supply chains of the economy. The Ian Potter Foundation is a proud philanthropic partner of ClimateWorks Australia.

01.01.2022 As The Ian Potter Foundation moves towards more strategic grant-making, we have created a pool of high-quality evaluators (TIPFEP) that we can recommend. Annual selection is based on submissions via an open call to the Australasian Evaluation Society. Outstanding submissions have been added to last years pool. All selected candidates submitted a work sample to the Foundation with strong outcomes measurement, experience with government sector and a willingness to build their clients capacity. The vast majority also had excellent financial analysis abilities and evidence of a diverse team; this is noted where this is not the case. The 2020 edition of The Ian Potter Evaluation Pool (TIPFEP) is now available to download from our website.
