24.01.2022 Hamersley Sprints Training We are now opening up our Thursday HDS sprints sessions to any of our club athletes who are in U12 to U17 and would like some additional sprints coaching, particularly if you need help with block starts. The weekly sessions start at 6pm sharp and finish at 6:30pm.... Cost is a gold coin donation for club athletes who are not registered with HDS. Don’t forget too that middle distance training is also available on Thursdays at Charles Riley Reserve from 5:45pm to 6:30pm with Chris Stansbury, also for a gold coin donation.

24.01.2022 REMINDER for all returning members - all Team App access groups were reset prior to registration so please go into Team App and update your access group so you can arrange roster swaps and receive information relevant to your group. Don’t forget to tick Tiny Tots and Hamersley Development Squad if that is applicable to your family. Please check your contact details are still the same. For NEW MEMBERS who have joined this season, you will need to join Team App to receive ...communications and be able to arrange roster swaps (if required). Please follow these easy steps to get started: 1. Download TEAM APP from the App Store or Google Play Store. 2. Sign up to Team App and verify your email address. 3. Login to the app and search for Hamersley Little Athletics Centre. 4. Choose your access group - this is your roster group which you selected when you joined (the cog in the top right corner should take you to access groups if you are not prompted), then tick the relevant group and save your selection. If you have an athlete in Tiny Tots or the Hamersley Development Squad, then you can tick those groups as well, to ensure you receive all relevant communications for your family. Finally, make sure notifications are turned on.

19.01.2022 KEY OFFICIALS ONLINE ACCREDITATION Thank you to those parents who are completing their online officials accreditation. Some parents are not selecting the Level 1 button to the course. We encourage parents to also complete the Level ‘0’ General Officiating Principles but your certificate for that course is not required to be emailed, just the Level 1 certificate. At the link below, you scroll to the bottom of the front page and click on the BUTTON that looks like the image b...elow - this takes you to a screen to register an account, then you select the Level 1 course of the field event e.g. shot put, long jump or starter/check starter role you chose when you joined Little Athletics. https://www.athletics.com.au/officials/education/ If you have completed the Level '0' course, you will still need to complete the Level 1 Officials e-Learning course for your event. 19.01.2022 Congratulations to Hamersley U16 athlete Alex Perin (KLAC) who competed in the PSA Interschool Athletics Carnival last week, achieving three first place finishes in High Jump, Long Jump (6.12m), Shotput and second place in Discus. Alex broke the Hale School High Jump record with a jump of 1.94m, narrowly missing the PSA record of 2.01m in his 3 attempts. An outstanding performance by Alex who is part of the Athletics Australia Target Talent Program. We look forward to seeing Alex in action during our summer season at Hamersley.

18.01.2022 TRACK & FIELD FOOTWEAR ... WHAT SHOES? WHERE FROM? Confused about what shoes your child can wear for athletics? There are 3 shoes permitted for Little Aths and they are: Sneakers... Waffles (preferred footwear for most athletes) Spikes (Under 11+ only) Waffle Shoes: Waffle shoes have a specialised rubber sole to ensure maximum grip on grass and synthetic surfaces. Waffles shoes are designed to offer young athletes the most technical footwear they are permitted to use. Spike Shoes: Spikes can be worn for athletes in Under 11+ and can be worn for events run entirely in lanes and for long jump, triple jump, high jump and javelin only. U13-U17 athletes may wear spike shoes for all track events except walks. Who to support? 15.01.2022 Hamersley Little Athletics Centre has partnered with the City of Stirling in the "Containers for Change Scheme". This will help increase recycling rates and reduce litter. Hamersley LAC will have a large collection bin with a blue lid at every Saturday competition and we encourage all members to participate. All proceeds raised from Containers for Change will go to supporting the activities of Hamersley Little Athletics Centre.

14.01.2022 KEY OFFICIALS PRACTICAL TRAINING For Key Officials and Starters/Check Starters (as per the list below), you will be required to undertake one (1) session of Practical Training to prepare you for your role at Hamersley LAC. If you are sharing the role with your partner, both parents will need to undertake the Practical Training and Level 1 Online Accreditation. For returning members, if you chose the same Key Official field event as last season and hold a Level 1 Accreditati...on in that event, you do not need to complete the practical training. The Practical Training is for the following rosters: - Shot Put Key Officials - Discus Key Officials - Javelin Key Officials - Turbo Javelin Key Officials - Vortex Key Officials - Long Jump Key Officials - Triple Jump Key Officials - High Jump Key Officials - Starters - Check Starters If you cannot remember what roster you chose when you registered, login to ResultsHQ with your email address and password, and look under your "family details". Training Dates - you have two choices: - Thursday 15th October from 5:30pm to 6:30pm; or - Sunday 18th October from 4pm to 5pm RSVP - this is required: Please go to your Hamersley Team App "EVENTS" icon and select the training date of your choice, then click on "Are you going?" and indicate "YES" then write your full name in the space provided. If you don't yet have Team App, you can download it from your App store, create an account, verify your email, search for Hamersley Little Athletics Centre, then choose the access group that relates to your roster from the list of options (use the cog in the top right corner). If not, you could be missing out on important communications sent to all members. Please see instructions below for how to download, create and set-up Hamersley Team App on your mobile phone or device. Team App is how members arrange roster swaps (via their roster access group) for when they will be absent, and we post important documents and information that all families need to read. 12.01.2022 ATHLETICS WEST - STATE COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP The first State event of the season is coming up for any interested athletes in U11 to U17. Information can be found at the link below, including the timetable of events and registration link. Cost is $15 per athlete payable online at registration. 03.01.2022 Hamersley Officials Accreditation For those parents who would like to make a head start on completing the online Level 1 Officials Accreditation for all jumps and throws event key officials and starters/check starters, here is the link below. The online training takes approximately 40 minutes: https://www.athletics.com.au/officials/education/... Some important points to note: - The button to register an account is at the bottom of the first screen (called Level 1 Officials e-Learning). - You will need to register an account, then select the particular event (level 1) that you have chosen for your roster e.g. long jump/triple jump, shot put, starter etc. Check ResultsHQ if you cannot remember. - Similar events may be combined in the one accreditation e.g. javelin/turbo javelin/vortex or long jump/triple jump. - Check starters do the starters accreditation so they fully understand the rules of starting. - If you have already completed the Level 1 and chose the same event this season, you won’t be required to complete it again. - If both parents intend to share the roster duty during the season to ensure it is covered, then both parents need to complete the accreditation. - All key officials and starters/check starters need to have completed the accreditation before the start of the season (preferably by the week prior). Don’t forget to fill out the Athlete Form which is step 2 of registration. This is so we receive your athlete’s three event preferences and t-shirt/singlet orders.
