17.01.2022 What is the role of architects? How can we contribute to the design of holistic environment across both realities? To those outside of the industry, the idea of taking a virtual tour of a new building before its even been constructed, every detail brought to life by wearing VR goggles, might sound like science fiction. But for designers, these futuristic technologies are becoming par for the course, rapidly transforming architecture as we know it. 13.01.2022 There has been a shift in the way cities are designed. The lines between work and play are blurred as newer developments boast a diverse mix of residential, retail, commercial and entertainment spaces all in the one area. This new style of mixed-use design is increasingly being embraced for new developments across Australia, in the city centres and suburbs alike. While we cant say for certain what the future workplace or the future of retail might look like, its fair to say that people will always need somewhere to work, somewhere to live and somewhere to shop. 11.01.2022 Urban Designer, Master Planner and Associate Director, Shannon O'Shea, presenting on public spatial design with Edith Cowan University (ECU) students yesterday. Shannon shared her knowledge of delivering value to public spaces to a relatively new Public Design unit at ECU. This knowledge spanned from trends, elements of Perth city, public spatial design principles, case studies, and future public design.... "For us as designers, inclusivity means walking in other's shoes to understand who we are designing for and how design impacts the experience of place." This initiative is part of Hames Sharley's new academic research arm supported by Emil Jonescu and Khoa Do, which serves as a nexus between academia and the private sector. For Hames Sharley, reflective practice is critical for us to unpack decisions and processes, developing new insights towards future problems. #design #urbandesign #hamessharley
11.01.2022 In 2017, the AFL, one of Australia’s biggest sporting codes, introduced a professional women’s league (the AFLW).
