23.01.2022 Michele Hamilton, dairy farmer from South Australia, talks about the importance of dairy foods in a balanced diet. #WorldSchoolMilkDay Australian Dairy Dairy SA SA Dairyfarmers' Association

23.01.2022 Silage harvesting is always an exciting time as we see the fruition of the work behind our year-round stewarding of the land, in association with skilful agronomy from Robby Zeissig of Watch Your Grass Grow. Quality and quantity together is the ultimate goal. Grass you can hang your hat on according to Graeme Hamilton! 18.01.2022 Milk production is ultimately what a dairy farm is about. Since Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed introduced various production awards in 2018 our herd has collected all the production award certificates you see displayed in the photo here. Working on farm tends to be a quiet endeavour without much fanfare, so it is really heartening for the farmer to receive these acknowledgements periodically in the mail. A reminder that his/her efforts are not in vain. Graeme ...Hamilton finds the most pleasure in the two Superior Total Performance awards shown at the front of the line up in the photo, in recognition of outstanding lifetime production for milk, protein and butterfat; also superior conformation and sustained performance and longevity. In other words, when all the planets align and everything goes right! Both of the cows awarded for Superior Total Performance completed six lactations here at Hamilton's Run. Cluain 2941 Queenie VG88 produced 79,121 litres; 2,696kg protein; 2,146kg butterfat; and lifetime PI124. Our Queenie family stems from the Bosgowan Princess family from South Australia. Cluain 2958 Dove VG89 amassed 83,815 litres; 2,766kg protein; 2,659kg butterfat; and lifetime PI110. Our Dove family descends from the Beaulands Aussie Reds herd from New South Wales.

17.01.2022 It's #WorldSchoolMilkDay! To celebrate, we’ve dug out these 1960s #throwbacks from the National Archives. What are your memories of milk in school? Fast for...ward to today did you know that 4 out of 5 Aussie kids do not get their recommended servings of dairy each day? Visit our Dairy Kitchen for some great recipe ideas on how to get some extra dairy into your kids’ day www.dairy.com.au/recipes Imagery courtesy of the National Archives of Australia

16.01.2022 Now there's a mature idea ;)

12.01.2022 DairySA is hosting a Nutrition farm walk at our property on 30th September - see attached details.

12.01.2022 Graeme Hamilton pleased to take delivery of our farm's new side-by-side after a long wait for it.

11.01.2022 What began as Michele Hamilton's simple idea to photograph some children with glasses of milk to celebrate #WorldSchoolMilkDay morphed into a video as well. Soon after a radio interview followed for Liz Rymill of ABC South East SA with memories of school milk days, and now an online ABC news report merged with comments from others about reintroducing school milk programmes. #theconversationwentfurtherthanexpected Dairy Australia SA Dairyfarmers' Association Dairy SA #farmambassador #dairyindustry

11.01.2022 Good quality food produced with integrity. That's a #value we all share. Here at Hamilton's Run - "Cluain" main farm we are proud to have a Quality Assurance programme audited under the South Australian industry authority "DairySafe". Huh? Dairy farms have QA programmes? Really?... Yes, really. We are #professional farmers and we care about how we farm and the products we send out the gate. Yesterday we had our regular audit with DairySafe and passed with ease, along with receiving some tips and tricks giving greater understanding. It's a #team effort as every worker here plays a part in the process of upholding the standards. Dairy foods you can rely on, coming from our team to your table.

11.01.2022 Introducing our yearling bull Cluain Derwent sired by TANGO from GGI Australia. Derwent comes from Dove cow family which continues to produce in the dairy, and reproduce strongly in the herd. From the last three generations of Dove cows in Derwent's pedigree, lifetime production ranges from 4,693kg milk solids (continuing) to 5,439kg milk solids over ten lactations. The Dove family delivers consistency in our herd which we value highly. This week young Derwent moved interstate to take up residence at Longroad Dairy in Victoria. We look forward to hearing of Derwent's success at work in another Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed herd.

11.01.2022 A grand old dame. Cluain 3013 Pet is the oldest cow we have entered in Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed national photograph competition. Aged 10 years 6 months old, and in her ninth lactation, 3013 Pet still manages to look stylish amongst much younger cows. She is sired by GGZOBER, and her dam Cluain 2214 Pet was sired by the Danish bull SYDABRU. Lifetime production as of herd test 22nd September 2020 is 69,762 litres 2,750kg BF and 2,489kg P. 3013 Pet is just... now surpassing her mother's lifetime production statistics. In June 2020 she was awarded a Bronze Lifetime Achievement award. 3013 Pet has given us four daughters to breed on from.

08.01.2022 The results of the Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed National Photograph Competition continue to roll out, and this time we were pleased to receive second place in a field of 22 entries in Class 5, for 5-6 year olds. Cluain 4075 Gee, sired by AROPER is on her fourth lactation having calved at 12 month intervals or less. She was classified as a heifer as 81 points overall, but received a higher ranking for feet and legs at 85 points, demonstrating her strengths.

08.01.2022 It's #WorldSchoolMilkDay! For me, Michele Hamilton, back in the 1970s school milk was a group event - nearly all the kids drank the little bottles of milk which arrived every day in crates. Linked to that memory was hanging out together on the play equipment, and teachers explaining to us about balanced nutrition in Health classes. Having three uncles who were dairy farmers there was never any mystery for me about how milk is produced, so the farmers are always connected to... thoughts about school milk. I'd like to share with you a little tribute to school milk memories - kids hanging out at the play equipment, glasses of milk in hand, a teacher or two, and with a farmer for good measure! 06.01.2022 People - we couldn't operate our farm without them. A growing enterprise needs the input of skilled individuals who share our vision. This week we've had the pleasure of opening up a new staff room transportable building to replace the ageing facilities which we had recourse to for many years. It's been an ambition to provide better facilities for our employees to take their meal breaks, and finally it's here! We have some final touches to go to finish the paved verandah... area which won't take long to complete. Our Herd Technician Jervin, kindly allowed me to photograph him on breakfast break relaxing in the new staff room. #humanresources #dairyfarming

05.01.2022 Graeme Hamilton recently had the privilege of judging the Illawarra's - Dairy Cattle Aust. at Mount Pleasant Show, South Australia. It's been a while since he stepped into the show ring as judge but he certainly enjoyed breaking the drought.

04.01.2022 https://youtu.be/YR070NOJwYw It's National Agriculture Day 2020 and despite hard lockdown due to COVID19 in South Australia, dairy farming continues its contribution to Australia's Food security. 02.01.2022 Great news today with the announcement that our cow Cluain 4238 Mandy has won first place in a field of 62 entries in Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed National Photograph competition, in Class 4 for 3 and 4 years old in milk. The Mandy family has been part of our herd for more than ten generations. 4238 Mandy is sired by the Angler bull ARNOUGAT, from a daughter of ARBLEX, who in turn was from an ARBTINDER daughter. The judge Ron Graham of New South Wales commented on "how many fantastic cows were photographed (for the competition) and reinforced in my mind how far the breed has come in such a short time,to produce so many cows of such high quality".
