15.01.2022 On behalf of Terrianne Leske and myself It’s a sad and frustrating moment to announce the suspension of the Hampton Beach Club 2020/21 summer. We will be here in 21/22. I’d like to thank all of the community who supported us from residents, traders, restauranteurs, councillors, team members and friends. ... In the end the restraints placed on us were both expensive and also wouldn’t allow us to deliver an experience that we felt would delight you. We would indeed have been operating outside a permit exposing you and ourselves to considerable liability. Yes a little bit of CoVid nerves crept in, some delays that impacted being able to break even, but ultimately the risk of operation under Bayside City Council governance meant that a single complaint could shut us down. I am extremely grateful for the council support we received to attempt to navigate these challenges but ultimately too many were vehemently opposed and so we felt that the smallest mistake would lead to onerous sanctions. I remain steadfast in my commitment to explore why the council wishes to oppose something the community has overwhelmingly supported. I am also determined to understand how a city council can sell bathing boxes in Brighton on our beaches as recently as two years ago to private ownership yet call a pop up Beach Club aimed at economic revival a commercialisation and privatisation of Bayside beaches. Something tells me a bathing box sale is the ultimate in privatisation and commercialisation. Unlike previously where I disclosed the contact details of the Bayside CEO and relevant Councillor I will refrain this time. If you want them let me know. Our community leadership needs to be visionary, courageous and understanding of changing community expectations. I hope I can find this within the new councillors and exec over the coming months. As a footnote I’d ask Mick Cummins the CEO to return my calls or answer my emails. Despite everybody’s support as residents never did I once receive direct contact from him. 10 restaurants and our community were let down by this.

11.01.2022 Thank you to everyone supporting us to get HBC up and running post Christmas. We hope that you have a healthy, safe and happy Christmas and we look forward to welcoming you to a deck chair soon.

10.01.2022 Another sunset but we are coming.

05.01.2022 2021. I think there is enough space for a Beach Club. There are limited spaces for the 26, 27 & 28 Jan. Afternoon and Sunset sessions. 2pm til 5pm and 5.30 to 8.30pm.

05.01.2022 Good things come to those who wait.
