04.01.2022 **2020 footy season delayed** Based on the Premier’s announcement today, metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire will return to Stage 3 Stay at Home Lockdown Restrictions from 11.59pm on Wednesday 8 July 2020. The SMJFL has confirmed that our 2020 footy season will be delayed for at least six weeks, or until otherwise notified by the Victorian Government. ... I’m gutted. I know that we have all been focused on doing everything possible to kick off the season for our Junior players. All SMJFL Presidents are committed to getting a season up and running, no matter how short it is. The Hampton Rovers Junior Committee will stay focused on working with the SMJFL to make this happen. We will keep you updated every step of the way. Please let your players know that if we stick together (virtually) and continue to drive our #RoversPassion, we will be able to play again soon. This is a great time (particularly during extended school holidays) to revisit our training and skills videos and keeping on top of our game. I’ll be back in contact as soon as possible. 01.01.2022 The South Metro Junior Football League announced this morning that our footy season will not proceed in a traditional format in 2020 but alternative programs are being investigated. We are devastated that our traditional footy season won’t take place, however are supportive of the decision. Please check your inbox for a message from the HRJ President.
