25.01.2022 Application period has been extended to 17th March 2018.

22.01.2022 Would you like to squeeze into our team for a short while? Hamilton's Run - "Cluain" main farm will have a short term employment vacancy, commencing mid August ...2018 for a number of weeks to cover a gap while a permanent worker is unavailable. This will be a temporary appointment of a full time position for someone with milking experience and/or calf rearing skills. Depending on your strengths, you could be placed in either the milking team or working in the calf shed. Our farm is located at OB Flat, South Australia, just a short drive from Mount Gambier. We have an efficient 25-a-side herringbone dairy, and a well organised calf shed with automatic feeders. We are keen to hear from interested candidates by email to [email protected] or phoning Michele Hamilton on 0428 268343.

19.01.2022 DRUM ROLL PLEASE! We are excited to announce that the 2018 winner of the "Graeme's Birthday Calf Giveaway" Competition is Heather Campbell of Cohuna, Victoria.... Heather demonstrated that the early bird really does get the worm; she not only made a good case for winning in her entry comments, but she was also the very first entry received, submitted within a few minutes of the competition going live to social media. Congratulations Heather. We look forward to meeting you when you choose your calf, and seeing how a Hamilton's Run Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed heifer works in your system in the coming years.

19.01.2022 Last night we farewelled our longest serving employee Sam Symonds with a dinner and gathering of family and colleagues. Sam joined us more than nine years ago ...but will not be continuing due to health matters. For most of her time in our employment Sam was Calf Manager, raising some of the most beautiful and healthy calves seen by us. Her commitment to the Hamilton family and our workplace was exemplary, and we will miss her smile and contribution to our farm. Thanks Sam for the good times, and for keeping your shoulder to the wheel in difficult times too. We are enriched for having had you here :)

17.01.2022 While we were busy being #dairyfarmers at our main property Hamilton's Run - "Cluain" main farm this little page has continued to attract some attention, and we've recently passed the 100 LIKERS mark. Vincent van Gogh is quoted as saying, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together". And so it is with the Facebook page: it represents a smaller but useful part of our larger operation, and we are grateful for it. Winter in southern Australia typically... brings our vital rainfall for a good growing season, and while others areas of this country are in drought we have had generous rainfall for which we thank God. "he gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields;" Job 5:10. Photography Shutterbytes by Michele Hamilton. 13.01.2022 What do we celebrate at Christmas? The clue is in the name. We are celebrating the birth of Christ who came to be our Good Shepherd. We stray, absorbed in ou...r own ways, and fail to see the dangers of our wanderings. Christ leads us back to God and pays the price for our sins. "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned - every one - to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all". Isaiah 53:6. In celebrating Christ's birth we are celebrating the promise of forgiveness, freedom, and joy. #HappyChristmas2018

07.01.2022 This strapping young fellow sold to Evan-Kerry Schmidt today, Holstein dairy farmers of Mundulla, South Australia. We say au revoir to Cluain Dancy (say Don-see) and merci beaucoup to the buyers for the custom.

07.01.2022 Cluain Dancy (say Don-see) is named after the French village of the same name, north west of Orleans. The bull is sired by ARKOLIBRI and comes out of a great performing cow on this farm Cluain 2713 Dove. Here Dancy is enjoying a morning dust bath!

07.01.2022 It's national #AgDay That's something we should all pay attention to! Dairy farming continues on EVERY DAY of the year - heat, hail or holiday. Remember that as you're enjoying your milk over weetbix or cheese platter with wine - somebody had to be committed to the process to make it happen, and that somebody should be properly rewarded.

04.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the team at Hamilton's Run.

02.01.2022 Hamilton's Run has the pleasure of offering for sale this quality 16 month old registered Aussie Reds - The Australian Red Dairy Breed bull "Cluain Perth". Perth is well grown (see photographs) and has been reared in an easy care system without pampering. Perth's sire stack is VIKCIGAR x GDMARCEL x ARBPLOUGHMAN x BRATBACK6157. Perth's dam Cluain 2382 Primula classified as VG87 in October 2015 during her seventh lactation. Her lifetime production in seven lactations was 80,...033 litres and 4,326kg milk solids, and average production index of 105. Primula is descended from the Bosgowan herd of Meningie. Given Perth's pedigree we suggest the known strength he has is for survival, so if you are looking for longevity in your herd, Cluain Perth has the potential to improve that trait. Our property is Score 7 for BJD and has been a closed herd since late 2008. Cluain Perth is for sale at $1700.00 plus GST. Please contact Graeme Hamilton on 0428 268324.

01.01.2022 COW CHAT WITH GRAEME #1 - building cow families. Today we are beginning our semi-regular series of information pieces about cow breeding, dairy farming and the ...love of cows as seen by Graeme Hamilton, our boss here at Hamilton's Run. Over time, Graeme would like to share with you how he views the world of red dairy cows, and dairy farming in general, sharing his lifetime experience of working with cows. "Old cow families with high lifetime production are the measure of good breeding and good management. Another measure is cows that will propagate themselves with female offspring at a higher rate than their contemporaries - in other words building cow families. These cows often produce in the above average section of the herd, but are frequently not extreme milk producers. These are the invisible cows which we select for. Some of our consistent cow families are: Empress, Emma, Matilda, Dove, Pet, and Primula. These names have developed into success families without the use of embryo transfers." Pictured is Cluain 2391 Primula who was one of our quiet stars in the herd. Food for thought, until next time, Graeme :)
