25.01.2022 And just like that BOOM it’s Monday morning again and things are all go here. With most of the crew in transit to worksites, it left only Ron & Kohan in the workshop, and they are helmets down burning rods.

24.01.2022 We’ve had a busy couple of days fabricating and fitting bike racks just in time for the upcoming school holidays. Hopefully the weather plays nice so you all can play hard and enjoy the magic of our back yard. #MakeItGreatQld #pumpnpedals #hanbywelding #verticalbikerack #hanbyhanger

23.01.2022 You know you’re a good sales rep when you even have the dogs attention. Matt from Tonkin Steel North Queensland had a very receptive audience this morning, with Murphy lining him up for steel for a new kennel?

22.01.2022 Bosses be warned... possibly a few sickies or some early marks tomorrow?! It feels like it’s a been a while since we have seen the winds below 10knots, so a few boats are in getting some maintenance done ready for a day out on the water. Despite the temptation, we are on ‘deck’ and look forward to seeing your brag photos.

21.01.2022 Before even a drop of coffee had been poured this morning, Josh was straight into it with an urgent weld out on a hydraulic cylinder shaft. Now he’s off to play boats and to pull a damaged stainless steel sprite off a yacht.

20.01.2022 STRANGELY!!! Yes Telstra I have, several times in fact!! We seem to be having a lot of intermittent issues with both our phone and internet in the workshop today. We apologise if you phone and it just rings out. Unfortunately it isn’t ringing at our end ... Please call us via our mobile’s Ron on 0417 762 597 or Deanna 0419 391 779. Very sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to be back to normal shortly.

19.01.2022 So in the carport today the Mighty Boy is feeling youthful again parked alongside a 1961 Dodge Lancer. With the purr that’s best heard in a tunnel with the windows down, this big thumping left hand drive Lancer is getting some cosmetic surgery in the engine bay. Definitely drool worth!!

19.01.2022 Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. Napoleon Hill 1883-1970 Patience, persistence and perspiration was the order for the day for our first year apprentice Kohan undertaking this large padweld under the watch eye of tradies Andrew and Adrian.

18.01.2022 Test n Tag Day - not an electricians favourite day but at least I’ve got my trusty offsider.

17.01.2022 We haven’t seen much of Brendon lately. He has been helmet down doing a massive refurb on a huge excavator sieve bucket. With all the sections laser cut from bisalloy 400 wear plate for increased service life. Pretty cool .... in a weird meccano way!

15.01.2022 Perspective - it’s all in how you look at things! You pick which one is the view for the Apprentice and which one is the view for the Tradie.

13.01.2022 A quick whip around the field of play this Monday.

13.01.2022 Kohan put his big boy pants on, heading out onto site with Ron for this emergency repair. A single bevel butt weld on 25mm plate. Good experience for a 1st year apprentice.

11.01.2022 Tricky little platform and step assembly for Macalister Brewing Company new ammenities block. Happy Days ahead for those who enjoy a frothy or two with Council allowing for expansion, and with more bodies comes more pee’s, but without the lengthy queue.

11.01.2022 Can you guess what Josh is fabricating? There is a subtle hint in one of the pictures.

11.01.2022 A sweet little process pipe install. It’s always our favourite type of work especially when using all the good gear supplied by our mates at Spirax Sarco.

10.01.2022 Happy Easter We will close tomorrow for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Back to normal hours on Tuesday, 7am-4pm. ... Hope you all get a chance to relax and enjoy some quality down time.

10.01.2022 With every new Welding Procedure Specification developed a Test coupon is completed using the proposed method of welding. This details things like parent material specification, preheat temperature, electrode specification, number of runs, post welding treatments, etc. This test coupon has been welded out using the prescribed methods detailed in the Welding Procedure and once complete it’s off for Non-Destructive Testing to check its conformity. All this happens prior to w...ork beginning on the actual job. Need a Welding Procedure, be sure to give us a call!!

07.01.2022 CERTIFIED WELDING Is your Welder qualified and current? And do they have a Welding Procedure to suit the job? - Did you know that a welder who isn't qualified to AS1796 MUST be supervised by a qualified Welding Supervisor or Welding Inspector. (And that doesn't mean just by the Workshop Foreman, but a supervisor qualified under the requirements of AS1796! And yep before you all get your knickers in a knot, there are a few clauses and exceptions to the rule, but do you know wh...at those exceptions are.) - Did you also know that many claim to be Qualified because they have done a weld test which they passed on the day. (However that weld test only remains current for 6months, whilst working for the same employer and you must be able to show evidence of when you last performed that exact same weld.) - Did you also know, we have our own in-house Welding Inspector and Welding Supervisor qualified to AS1796. - Did you know that we can develop and write a Welding Procedure to suit your application. -Did you know that we can qualify your Welder to a Qualified Welding Procedure. - And, did you know our prices are competitive and yet still offer you truly 'certified' welding. If you are getting Certified Welding done, be sure to ask to see evidence of their qualifications and experience. And if they can't provide current evidence of it; then you are getting ripped off!

07.01.2022 To all our valued Business Partners, Office CLOSED this Thursday and Friday. (30th & 31st July) Workshop will be OPEN with limited hours and as the crew come in from site. ... Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We will see all you wonderful people back on deck Monday morning.

07.01.2022 On the way home tonight Boss Man Ron called in for a site measure and to check out how some of our fabricated work pieces came out. Wow!! What a job the team at SJ Lloyd Construction Pty Ltd has done with this build. Congratulations crew!! Absolutely stunning home.

07.01.2022 Josh and James have just completed a refurb on this fuel tanker. Complete with new access hatches, drain points, pipe work and mounting rails; this old girl is ready to roll again. James Morrow Josh Leahy #fronius #fueltanker

05.01.2022 Happy 20th birthday Josh!!

04.01.2022 Cairns Show Day public holidays; the gloves are on and our helmets are down. But let’s be honest, we are dreaming of hitting up some of the dirt on World Trail’s famous mountain bike tracks. Whatever you are up to this long weekend.... ENJOY!!

03.01.2022 This is Rob, who’s mug shot proudly hangs on the office wall. He was our first apprentice who went on to experience the World after completing his apprenticeship. Happy to say, he is now back home again. ... Gotta say, he hasn’t changed a bit.

03.01.2022 Happy Monday - lets do this! After an extended weekend for the Office, everything is back to normal - computers are switched on and sparks are flying. Come on in and say hi.

02.01.2022 Hold onto your hats ladies and gents, the future is here!! Spent the morning with TAFE Queensland and the Cairns Manufacturing hub, who were showcasing the advancements in training and technology. What we have available at our fingertips now and how it will be used in the not so distant future, is nothing short of mind blowing and staggering!... Thanks to Greg in Engineering and Matt in the Maker Space at the Tropical North Queensland TAFE campus. 01.01.2022 Starting the week off with a fresh new look. After only 5 years the poor front signage was suffering from too much UV exposure. So over the weekend it was out with the old and in with the new laser cut stainless steel sign.

01.01.2022 What a week it has been. I think we have seen everything from crane booms, hydraulic cylinder rods, truck bodies, boat canopies, fuel tanks, aluminium manifolds, terrain leveller, stainless steel pipe spools and stair way stringers!! Have a great weekend!!
