25.01.2022 Please take a virtual tour of our play spaces and some of the experiences we offer to our students!

25.01.2022 Our preschoolers went on a wild walk yesterday! Being in nature provides children with the time and space to get in touch with their internal thought process. We often see groups of children interacting in ways that we do not see within the centre environment. Different groups play together, and with the removal of resources and introduction of an abundance of natural space, the children extend their interests and find pride in ways that they hadn’t before.

25.01.2022 TEAMWORK! Our preschoolers explored the water together. They used collaboration, questioning and hypothesising to learn from each other and also learn more about the properties of water.

23.01.2022 Play is used as a method for children to learn more about the world around them. Play allows children to experiment, hypothesise and wonder. As Einstein said ‘play is the highest form of research’! Giving children unlimited time and space to explore their environments, allows them to find answers to the question that they wonder about the world around them.

23.01.2022 The children experienced a whole new environment this week with the high tide! They explored the rocks, discovered shells, and climbed in the mangrove tree! What an amazing natural experience to build our understanding and resilience!

22.01.2022 The road to success is always under construction! We are all set up and awaiting our explorers to build, dig, imagine and play!

22.01.2022 Young biologists at work! Our children are using multiple mediums to learn about our bodies and what is inside them. This interest based experience allows the children to explore hypothesis, scale, research and investigation. They use their expressive and receptive language to share their ideas about the topic, and refine their understanding of the written word through identifying the labeled body parts.

21.01.2022 Our teachers love providing interest based provocations for the children to explore. By having set ups, children learn to facilitate their own learning and acquire knowledge in a pace and style that works for them!

19.01.2022 We LOVE messy play!!! There has been so many sensory play opportunities at Wentworth Point this last week. There is SO much learning and development happening as these children use their hands to explore and create.

18.01.2022 What better feeling is there in the world than overcoming a challenge and thinking to yourself, ‘I did it’! This week, our youngest children have been perfecting their gross motor skills and working on their balance. Though there were some tumbles, it’s these tumbles that we should use as the drive to get up and try again! This lesson became intrinsically understood, as the children tried and tried again, and finally succeeded at crossing the sensory path. Well done everyone!

17.01.2022 Today we celebrate Dragonfly Day on behalf of our community and any family affected by domestic violence. Our children learnt about Kindness and Diversity and explored these themes socially and through the dollhouse set up. Children’s values are formed through these early life experiences! https://www.mycause.com.au/page/240014/handprints

16.01.2022 Open ended resources provide children with the tools to create their own learning. Children must be taught how to think, not what to think! This loose parts science experience teaches children about gravity and speed, while using negotiation and collaboration with others.

15.01.2022 As children overcome new challenges, within any element of learning, their sense of pride increases. They prove to themselves that they can negotiate tricky times independently. This type of intrinsic motivation, when regularly practiced, becomes innate. This value then becomes an integral part of life long learning!

14.01.2022 Out and about again! Natural environments, or wild spaces, have so many benefits for physical, social and emotional development. Our children enjoyed the serenity, while exploring the inviting world around them.

12.01.2022 Thank you to all the members of our immediate and wider community for you support in recent times! We are feeling so lucky to have been able to remain open and offer our education program to all essential workers and those that couldn't care for their children at home. We look forward to many more years of collaborative eduction with the Wentworth Point Community!

11.01.2022 We had a wonderful time exploring the waterfront. The children spotted crabs, searched for shells, worked on their balance, and engaged their senses!

10.01.2022 We value open ended resources, time and space. Even our youngest children are encouraged to explore their environment and independently find answers to their questions about the world around them. Even if it takes some patience and persistence!

09.01.2022 When we offer kindness, we receive it in return! In our environment, we place value within respectful, helpful and thoughtful interactions. We aim to give the children the tools to make good choices and be positive contributors to the community culture around them. What simple, kind deed do you and your child enjoy? We would love to incorporate these into our program. We welcome you to share!

08.01.2022 Enjoying the elements! Sometimes you close your eyes for a moment and the season is ready to change. Today we took inspiration from the last of the winter winds as a learning opportunity.

08.01.2022 This week we say THANK YOU to our Handprints community for all of their ongoing support. To our children, families, educators and friends, you are the heart of everything we do. Thank you for continuing to be your wonderful selves through a difficult time. Please enjoy a coffee on us from our local friends at Pier Point Cafe as a small token of our appreciation. Pick up your voucher from your centre this week. Have a wonderful Monday!

07.01.2022 MEET ANGELINA, OUR WENTWORTH POINT DIRECTOR: Hello, my name is Angelina Fossano and I am the Centre Director of Handprints Wentworth Point. I am a university qualified Primary School and Early Childhood Teacher with over 10 years’ experience working alongside children from 0-12. I am also a mother to a spirited little girl named Ally who has set me on the journey of motherhood and all that it encompasses. I value children’s ability to lead their own learning as they are confi...dent, capable and have unlimited potential, thus always seeking to find out about their world and their place within it. As early childhood professionals we will respectfully support the children in their learning through guiding and facilitating their journeys of discovery and meaningful inquiry. Our role is to therefore build partnerships with our families and the extensive Wentworth Point community hub to make visible the many different skills and capabilities of the children entrusted into our care. As after all, they are our youngest and most creative citizens! We look forward to establishing our Handprints Wentworth Point community with our families and celebrating the adventure of the early years together.

06.01.2022 Our children are encouraged to contribute to, and respect the world around them. When our turf needed some extra attention, our preschoolers were happy to learn the important skill of hammering. Patience, aim and persistence are key!

06.01.2022 Our philosophy includes a sense of Wonder! Children are encouraged to use the resources in a collaborative manner to seek answers to questions that they wonder about the world.

05.01.2022 I wonder what we will find in the sand?? Through persistence and commitment our young children work to find answers to the questions that they wonder. These young children are not just playing, they are working hard, often putting in long hours, to discover how the world works. Childhood is filled with fascination. It is something that should be fostered, explored and encouraged through meaningful daily interactions and play.

04.01.2022 Welcome to the Handprints cafe! Our children are exploring the world of hospitality by writing menus, taking orders and selling their baked goods. This experience is fun, social and appeals to many children’s interests. This experience also exposes children to pre-literacy skills such as mark making, sounding words out and letter recognition. It also engages the children in numeracy skills as they manage costs, payments and refunds. What a great example of how play based explorations can extend children’s learning in the years prior to school!

03.01.2022 Creativity should be open ended and free! It can be collaborative, or independent. It will always result in a product, yet the real value is in the process! How do you express your creativity?? Are there any ideas we could use in our environment? Why not come show us!
