22.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL DOUGLAS NETBALL PLAYERS & FAMILIES All players who were registered for the 2020 season have now been de-registered and all registration fees have been fully refunded. For the Douglas Netball Association to continue we need to have one person from each team registered as a volunteer. The Association will pay these volunteer registration fees. ... This is to enable the association to continue in 2020 and into 2021, for us to hold our annual general meeting, to lodge for grant applications and to continue to affiliate with Netball Queensland. The AGM is to be rescheduled for Tuesday 18 August 2020 to be held at Beechwoods Café, Mossman at 5.30pm. Having regard to Covid-19 requirements only the one volunteer per team is required to attend the AGM. The Committee has recognised a parent/player for each team and have forwarded a text message. If the recognised parent/player is unable to unwilling to act as the team contact volunteer, then the team must organise someone else. These actions are to enable the Douglas Netball Association to continue into 2021. If anyone else is interested in being involved with our Committee, please attend this meeting.

12.01.2022 To our Douglas Netball Family The Douglas Netball Association has become aware of groups of local players undertaking group training and matches in the Shire, outside the school systems. Please be aware that the Queensland State Government has strict requirements for community sport activities due to Covid-19. Contact sport, including netball training and match play, can only be undertaken in accordance with an approved covid-19 plan. These plans limit the number of partic...ipants on a court, spacing between courts, distancing of officials and spectators, arrival and departure plans and documentation recording attendances. Netball Queensland has developed Covid-19 play plans and these are available on the Netball Queensland website. If you are using Council’s sporting facilities for group training or match games you are encouraged to contact the Douglas Shire Council to firstly ascertain the appropriateness of your intended use and secondly, advise Council of your Covid-19 plan. The Port Douglas sporting complex is a shared facility and all users need to respect others and coordinate their use. Please note that our association currently has no registered players with Netball Queensland. Therefore no insurance applies. The Douglas Netball Association has not sanctioned any group training or match play since or cessation of activity in March. Take care Sharon Beechey, President Douglas Netball Association Jenny Elphinstone Umpire Convenor and Acting Covid-19 Co-ordinator.

A decision will be reviewed as to whether we have a come and try fast five in October, as we need to still hold our AGM for our non for profit association and maintain our look in the local community for the future.
