15.01.2022 External work. ... continued topics from window upgrade. cut & shut work on external wall: brickwork usually sees some chipped edges, thick render breakaways.... review correct flashings, beading & adequate DPC etc. at the onset we considered the main challenges of externals to actually be aesthetics & refinishing walls when the fitout was done. eg- task to tidy up any broken rendering, how to carry out matching paint & texture, and so on. option 1. refinish entire side of house after completion of demo & new items added. option 2. re-clad affected zone (there was 5m of other work done on this wall). the option was to remove bricks for a 10m section of wall. reframe & fit composite panels. option 3. (ignoring the re-clad of other affected areas...thats a topic for another day), the area of interest near the awesome new window, related chipping etc can be neatly covered & finished with simple fitment of wide strips of timber architraves. staining & coatings to match other trims used on the home too. result, minimal cost. time spent was not excessive. finish was perfect.
