22.01.2022 It's Thursday Q&A!! Got anything to ask me about health? Write your questions below, I am more than happy to answer them.... xXx Hannah xXx

21.01.2022 #HEART What is the first emotion you feel when you wake up in the morning? Do you look forward to your day or do you dread what’s coming?... For some people, getting out of bed is a struggle. Some do not have the motivation or the drive to work, others are not comfortable with what’s coming. As simple as it may seem, but these are manifestations of anxiety. There is no one-size, fits all approach to dealing with this. But what we can do is to focus our minds on the good things that we can do for ourselves, the little things that we are able to accomplish. Just getting through the day is already a WIN itself. It is good to acknowledge our fears, but it is better if we can work our way around it. Take small, easy steps to not get overwhelmed. Eventually you will be able to do major hurdles. Remember, practice makes progress!!

18.01.2022 Do you know what the loneliest creature in the world is? I came across this article on the weekend. The title caught my attention as it says The loneliest creature in the world. It is The 52-hertz whale. ... They say that its frequency is so unique that no other species of whale can hear it and because of this it travels the vast ocean alone the whole time! You might be wondering why I’m saying this?? Well, emotions are powerful things and they really can make our life painful if we don't express them. They can even make us physically sick. Some of us sometimes might feel that no one can hear us that no one can understand us. That no matter how hard we try it seems nobody cares or nobody can hear us. Do you relate? We all have emotions and feelings inside of us and sometimes we feel we can’t express them. But I’d like to challenge you on this. Is it really true that we can't express them? Or are you actually too scared to say how you feel or are you ignoring the signs and people that are willing and ready to listen to what you are feeling? Or if you have been speaking up maybe you are talking and sharing your feelings to the wrong person. Maybe you could think of it this way if the song of the 52-hertz whale was recorded and heard by the scientist even from the depts of the vast ocean for sure your voice and thoughts can be heard too. You might just need to be more open to first sharing them or choosing the right person to share them with. Sharing how we feel is really important, its a key skill to master and remember if you’re on the listening side that one of the best things to do when listening is to just listen and say very little back, as often people just need to speak it out I know I’m like that. Better out than in is what I say. XX Hannah

17.01.2022 Sugar Cravings! We've talked about the first 3 key points about sugar cravings in the previous weeks. Now let's talk about hormone imbalances.... 4th: Hormone imbalances. If your hormones are out of whack this includes cortisol from the adrenal glands caused by stress, insulin from the pancreas and sex hormones estrogen, progesterone from ovaries, and thyroid hormones. When these are out of whack women may get sugar cravings before their period, they might start craving chocolate or want to eat more carbs. This is often because large fluctuations in hormones and the liver has problems breaking them all down this is what can contribute to PMS symptoms.

16.01.2022 Most people think painful periods are normal and healthy this couldn't be further from the truth. Take a listen to find out why.

15.01.2022 What to do about binge eating??

15.01.2022 Naturally, balance your hormones! If you are in your teenage years, your 20's, 30's or early 40's, your hormones should be balanced on their own. If they are not, it's an indicator that something else is going on. Hormones don't go out of balance for no reason. ... Hormones are very sensitive to chemicals, stress and heavy metals, deficiencies and infections can also contribute! For these reasons creating hormonal balance isn't just about taking a pill to magically make it all go away. Normal treatment tells us to be taking a pill. But a pill just covers up the symptoms and creates more problems. The first thing we need to do is to support our liver. I would go as far as saying that if you've got a hormone problem you may also have a liver problem. A liver problem develops because of our lifestyles, food choices and the chemicals and toxins that we pick up from our environment. So what to do?? - Avoid eating processed food, it's filled with junk. - Eat healthy, fresh food. - Avoid sugar and bad fats. - Get enough sleep - Exercise regularly. Mood and hormones are definitely related, and they both tie back to liver health. xXx Hannah xXx

14.01.2022 As a naturopath, my mission is to help educate people on how to live well, naturally. I am really passionate about reducing unnecessary suffering caused by poor diet and lifestyle choices. If you want to start to go natural, starting at home is the best place to begin and you can do this in the following ways: ... Areas to go natural: 1. Food - more veggies and organic food 2. Drinks - water with lemon, freshly juiced vegetable and fruit and homemade smoothies. 3. Skin care and personal care - natural skin products. Always to read the label as I've noticed some of the most chemical based products now say NATURAL, WITH NATURAL .... this is to con you into thinking they are natural but they aren't. 4. Household cleaning products - choose chemical-free, ECO friendly, non-synthetic products and or make your own. 6. Storage - eliminate use of plastics; use glass containers or stainless steel ones that can be reused. What other ways can we go natural? Comment down below.

14.01.2022 I’m sure most if not all women would agree with me when I say that we want healthy-looking, glowing, radiant skin. Who wouldn’t right? Some of us are blessed with good skin but others are not so lucky. I have worked with many clients who have suffered from acne and they ask me, what skincare routine can you recommend?... It’s really simple and here is what I tell them. 1. Stop washing your face with antibacterial face washes and scrubs. This can create an imbalance in the pH of the skin and can make it worse. Remember that our body has its own natural way of regulating the skin. 2. Wash your face with water in the morning or a very gentle natural cleanser. I find water is often best. 3. If you have a pimple, but a little bit of natural antiseptic on it like diluted tea tree. 4. Light toner and a nice gentle moisturizer and that's it. See, it's just the basic stuff!! No need to go crazy on the things for your skin. Less is definitely more beneficial when it comes to skin. Let it breathe and your skin will thank you.

12.01.2022 How much sugar is too much sugar?? When it comes to sugar, less is definitely more. There are 2 types of sugar, refined and natural.... NATURAL is good for us but too much natural sugar can also become a problem. REFINED has no positive effects on the body only makes us tired and gain more and more weight. Fresh fruit is good for us but no more than 2 servings of fruit a day. For some people, the craving for sugar is so strong that they can do nothing but give in to sweet pastries, Tim Tams, and chocolate bars! The problem is these sugars are NOT healthy at all. But the great news is there is a way to curb these cravings for sweets and other unhealthy ones like sodas, chips, and other processed foods. Would you like to learn how? Just send me a message and I will gladly help you . xx Hannah

12.01.2022 Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal condition that results in enlarged ovaries with many partially formed follicles on the ovaries, each containing an egg. The word Polycystic literally translates as ‘many cysts’. So what are the common factors that contribute to PCOS? Here are some of them, you might be surprised why!... -Man-made Chemicals and Toxins Sadly we get them from almost everything that we use and eat every day! From the processed foods that we eat, the products that we use in our house, and even to the cosmetic products we put on our bodies. -Long-term Stress: Stress really does affects your hormones in a bad way. Our bodies are designed to cope with periods of short-term stress (days to weeks) but not long-term (months to years). -Problems with Blood Sugar Management and Metabolic Syndrome: Metabolic Syndrome is often playing in the background of PCOS. The easiest way to think of this is it’s kind of like pre-diabetes and your body may be having problems managing the sugar levels in your blood. To know more about PCOS and natural ways on how to deal with it don't hesitate to send me a message.

11.01.2022 Do you worry a lot??? We tend to worry about everything, from as simple as what to wear, what to eat, what to buy, where to go, etc. We worry about the future because of the uncertainty of it. It is normal for us to worry because we humans have dreams, worrying about not reaching our goals is the most common fear that we face every day. Be a warrior, not a worrier. Instead of worrying about things act and be strong like a warrior have the courage and stay full of positivity... and conviction. Take risks, embrace changes because one of the only constants in life is change. It's up to you on how you will use those changes, find the positive and use it for your advantage or will you let it get you down by focusing on the negative and stopping you from achieving your goals. xx Hannah xx

08.01.2022 I have a question for all the busy, stressed women out there and it's this? Is being busy working for you? Being busy and being on the go all the time is one of the main reasons why women skip meals especially breakfast . Sometimes they are soo busy they literally forget to eat!... Is this YOU? What I've found after 12 years in clinical practice is people who skip meals usually end up reaching for sugary snacks and pre-made quick meals sometime later in the day... The reason for this is we need to eat and our body knows sugar is the fastest way to get energy. This is why you will likely grab something quick and sweet out of desperation at some stage in the day. What we need to do in this case is to realize that this pattern of go go go, not eating, or not stopping is NOT working for our body. It's stressing you out and wreaking havoc on your hormones!!! This is a major reason many women can't lose weight and are fatigued and tired. But don't lose hope just yet because YES, there is a way to manage these. Are you interested to work with me? Then come and book a free 30-minute Balance Appointment to start . Link in the comments below.

06.01.2022 #QUOTE "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Don't let the naysayers get into your head, you are not here to please them. Do what you believe is best for you and remain true to yourself.

06.01.2022 We are still talking about "Sugar Cravings". Let's go about the 3rd keypoint and what to do about them.3rd a: Emotional reasons: Physical addictionSugar, when we eat it, it releases dopamine your reward neurotransmitter makes you go back for more and more, again and again, the more you have, the more you want of it. 3rd b: Emotional reasons: Pushing down emotionsThe key here is if we are not dealing with our emotions will have a tendency to want to eat sweet things because it makes us feel good. So if we're feeling sad or feeling upset, if we're feeling angry, and we're not dealing with what's going on, we're just pushing it all down. We eat sugar so we don't have to feel the pain of our emotions. To sort this one out we need to learn how to deal with our emotions and learn how to embrace them in a healthy way.xXx Hannah xXx

05.01.2022 #QUOTE Sometimes we get too focused on achieving the big goals. It's good to keep an eye on the prize, but we must not forget to appreciate the small things that we accomplish along the way. After all, these small wins are the tools that will help us achieve our ultimate goals.

05.01.2022 "ALL DISEASE BEGINS IN THE GUT" Scientific studies show that within our gut there is a whole ecosystem wherein trillions of microbes (bacteria, viruses, molds, fungus, protozoa, parasites) live in a balance. When there is harmony among them, they help maintain a healthy gut. They also contribute to our immune system and protect us against bad bugs and imbalances. In healthy adults, there are about 1000 to 2000 species of bacteria living in a healthy gut. These good bugs hel...p aid nutrient absorption, remove toxins, and regulate our immune system. Changes in the balance of the microbiomes are found in humans who have cardiovascular disease, irritable bowel disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. In these people, dysbiosis is present (imbalance between the good and the bad bugs). An interesting fact is that the old thinking of GOOD and BAD bugs is now being replaced as most bugs can be either good or bad, it just depends on the balance - if in balance its good, if out of balance its bad. BALANCE, BALANCE, BALANCE that's what it's all about! There is still much to be learned about the role of microbes in our body but it looks promising as it may lead to a whole new level of treatment for diseases. All disease begins in the gut is a quote attributed to Hippocrates, the father of medicine and in this case, he is not too far from the truth! Science is finally catching up to what natural medicine practitioners (especially naturopaths) have always said! XX Hannah

02.01.2022 Weight problems - what's going on?

02.01.2022 How have you been feeling lately? Do you feel its a race between time and achieving your life goals? Or maybe you feel you have missed the boat and are feeling left out or stuck? I totally know how these feel as I’ve been there. I know how frustrating it can feel when you are trying your best but it feels like nothing is happening I did that for the first 3-4 years I was in business! But the truth was I was getting somewhere I just couldn’t see it at the time as I was too bus...y comparing myself to others - big mistake!! This what I want to tell you (I tell these things to myself too when I need a reminder). Life is a fine balance of setting goals, working our buts off, basking in what we have done, and taking time to evaluate and reassess your situation. Sometimes it's ok to stop and take a break. Often its when we stop that we get the clarity we need - so we can then carry on or make the changes we need to make. There’s no point in running flat tac at 100% in the wrong direction or with no plan. Sometimes this is what feeling stuck is all about we don't have a real tangible plan. In this situation its good to take a good look at your plans and ask the following questions to yourself. Am I running in the wrong direction? If I keep going this direction what will I get? and do I really want that? Or maybe you are striving for somebody else’s dream? It is ok to be inspired by others, but not to live and design your life according to what they have and where they are. Remember we all have our own uniqueness that will stand out once we find it and understand it ourselves. What you have right now might be what somebody else is dreaming about. As they say, The grass is greener on the other side of the fence and All the breaths you breathe are already in paradise. xx Hannah xx

01.01.2022 #Quote The only thing we never get enough of is love; and the only thing we never give enough of is love. Henry Miller... How ironic isn't it??
