25.01.2022 In the Preschool room, we have a nature and science area, where the children are provided with opportunities to explore their world around them within a play based learning environment. Over the last few weeks, the Preschoolers have been learning all about Bees, from what they look like, to how they collect nectar form the flowers to make honey. Educators set up a Bee nature table for the children to explore, discuss and ask questions in order to discover new things as well... as building on what they already know. Through reading books, looking at pictures of bees, as well as using the internet to see how bees collect the nectar, the children discovered just how important bees are to our ecosystem. Through discoveries in their learning, children are able to make connections and contribute to their world through discussions, problem solving and play. As a teacher, I help in providing the setting with the resources, the support and the guidance for the children to learn more at their own individual pace. It is when children take their learning to the next step and want to know more, is when we extend on their learning into other areas. We had honey on toast, made amazing bees out of playdough and painted our own representational paintings of bees. The children were very creative in the making of their bees out of playdough, using pipe cleaners for the stripes and stones for the eyes. The only direction that we as educators give is through the resources, such as pictures of bees for the children to be able to base their own representation on. We even have a bee and bee hive on our wall, that we will add to as our interests change and grow. See more

21.01.2022 To all parents and families, Due to the Coronavirus and current health and safety measures now in place, Happy Feet have in place a drop off and pick up drive through service. What this means, is that while the centre remains open and during the times of drop off and pick up, you will only have to call the centre from your car and a staff member will come out and collect your child. If you do not have the centre number, it will be located at the gate when you arrive. Sign on... and sign out for your child/ren will also be available during this time, as well as the opportunity to make payments both with cash and card. The health and safety of your child/ren is of the utmost importance to us and we hope that putting these measures in place, we put your mind at ease. Morning drop off will start at 8am. If you need to drop off your child/ren before 8am, then you will need to come into the centre. Pickups will commence from 3pm until close. If you need to pick up your child/ren before 3, again you will need to come into the centre. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the centre and speak to Jenny. Thank you to all of our families during this time and I urge you to continue to support o...ur centre and in keeping our doors open now and in the future. Please help us fill our halls and rooms with lots of Happy Feet again and remember that care for your child is free for the next 6 months. Remember that if your child is unwell, and has a temperature or sore throat, we ask that you please don’t bring your child into the centre. This is a health and safety regulation for all centres during this time. Jenny

09.01.2022 Jenny & the team at Happy Feet would like to give a big thank you to Chloe & her team for their work the past few weeks. During this time, some of the children attending our centre that need a little extra help with their speech have been receiving speech therapy from these lovely ladies & they have all been making wonderful progress. Our educators have also been sitting down with the speech therapists & learning tips & tricks to work on with the children too! We are so happy we are able to offer these services to our children & families.

09.01.2022 This evening was a very special evening for the Preschool Room children as they graduated from Preschool, ready to take their next step into big school. Our night was made even more beautiful and memorable with a special visit from Hannah, Allie and Bridget from Grand Gestures, who came and sang 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' to the children and families. Thank you to Grand Gestures for sharing your amazing singing talent with us and making our night such an amazing one. I ha...ve enjoyed the six months that I have been teacher in the Preschool room, nurturing the minds of the children and supporting them in both their development and preparation for big school. In the words of Dr Seuss Oh, the places you will go! "Wherever you fly, you'll be the best of the best. Wherever you go, you'll top all the rest. Except when you don't, Because sometimes you won't" On behalf of Sam Diduszko, myself and all of the staff at Happy Feet, we wish you all the best at big school! Chase the rainbow and follow your dreams!

07.01.2022 Passport to Happy Feet With the Coronavirus and having to social isolate has made it difficult for families to leave home and at times, have to explain where they are going. To help with this, the children in the Preschool room have their own passport, stamped with approval to show that they attend Happy Feet for days of fun, learning and creativity! Show your passport so everyone knows that you are on your way to Happy Feet

06.01.2022 Hey all, Zoe here! After 5 + years as toddler RL @ HF, today it was time for me to say goodbye. What an absolute adventure my time here has been! 03.01.2022 The toddlers & pre kindy class have been bug mad this last week! Here are some of the activities we’ve had in the last week! We are super excited to extend on these! Playdoh bugs - the children were given some green playdoh, a tray of things such as pipe cleaners & google eyes & the chance for their imagination to run wild! They spent majority of their morning at this activity creating & recreating bugs & were so proud of their creations! This activity encouraged fine motor,... cognitive development, imagination & was an awesome sensory activity. Sandpit - In the early morning, educators & even some of the preschoolers hid laminated bugs in the sandpit. This encouraged curiosity, both fine & gross motor (depending on how the children chose to dig for them.) The excitement on their faces when they’d find a bug was so wonderful. Nature table - after spending so much time each morning searching the playground for bugs, we thought we’d extend it into hiding their own & searching at for them in an inside activity too. Using our greenery, fake grass, sticks & plastic bugs, the children hid & found them inside of the shrubbery. Sitting with educators, this bought up a lot of discussion on different types of bugs, what their roles are, where they live etc. They didn’t believe us when we told them about dung beetles! We had an awesome week & can’t wait to see what else the children can create, discover & come up with in the next week or so!

03.01.2022 - PRESCHOOL PARENTS - The time has come for our little ones to graduate & move onto big school! Tomorrow at 6.30pm, we will be holding our preschool graduation! We can’t wait to see you all there for the ceremony and drinks & nibbles afterwards!

03.01.2022 - PYJAMA WEEK! - The 17th of July is Pyjama Day! At Happy Feet we will be all dressing in pyjamas all next week, which is even more fun than just one day & ensures no one misses out! The Pyjama Foundation helps to raise awareness & much needed funds for children in & needing foster care which is something very close to all our hearts. ... Make sure you don’t forget to dress your littles in their pjs every day they are in next week! Might even mean you get to sleep in an extra five minutes. Can’t wait to see you all!

02.01.2022 ‘Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue & the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.’

01.01.2022 This week our preschoolers have been learning about the way plants absorb water up their stems, nourishing their petals & leaves. They did a coloured water experiment to show the process of exactly that. The children got to experience the flowers change the colours of their petals during this process & had so much fun working together.
