25.01.2022 Good Afternoon to all our Families of Happy Haven, Like you, we are currently not certain what these lockdowns and increased restrictions mean for OSHC. We did not receive any information prior to the press conference from Premier Steven Marshall. We have been in contact with the Department for Education, and will be receiving further information in the coming hours. We will provide updates as soon as we have them at hand as to whether we are allowed to remain open to familie...s who are essential workers, and whether we will have sufficient educators willing and able to staff sessions at your service over the next week. Stay Safe. Kind Regards, Nicholas Smith CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & MANAGING DIRECTOR

24.01.2022 The Riverland has a special connection with the ANZACs and those who have served since. The hard work and lessons learnt by ANZACs in settling the Riverland following the First and Second World Wars, and the irrigated agriculture that developed, have shaped much of the Riverland as we know it today. The WWII Loveday Internment Camps produced large amounts of food and soap for the Army and wood for the pumping stations. The camp also produced the greatest amount of opium in Australia, growing poppies to make more than half the Australian Armys morphine in 1944. The Cobdogla (Cobby) OSHC children depicted the ANZAC spirit beautifully, with their poppies that blew gently in the breeze.

22.01.2022 The children at Munno Para OSHC found creativity from reflecting about ANZAC Day. ANZACs and all of those since who contribute to war and peace-keeping efforts, fight for a bright future for our children. The children invited a current serving member of the Air Force (who is also a Happy Haven Educator) to talk about what ANZAC Day means to them. An engaging and thoughtful experience for everyone.

21.01.2022 Many children, families and educators in our Happy Haven community are commemorating a special time of the year. Ayat Hamood, our Service Director at Northfield, put together some words to acknowledge this important occasion, and to educate those who are not familiar with Ramadan. From Friday the 24th of April, Muslims in Australia and all around the world have marked the beginning of Ramadan. It is a special time in the Islamic calendar, Muslims do praying and fasting which ...means they dont eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. It is also a time of collective gathering, but this year it is slightly different. Iftar (the time when Muslims can break their fast and eat) will only be with those you live with, as we continue to fight the global COVID-19 pandemic and work to protect ourselves and communities by staying home. Normally this is a much more communal time with larger gatherings. I remember being a child in Iraq, making many dishes and sweets to share with our neighbours, and they did the same for us. On behalf of the Happy Haven team, I wish everyone celebrating a blessed and peaceful Ramadan . Ramadan Mubarak See more

18.01.2022 Happy Haven at Hewett has implemented a new OSHC Leader initiative. Theyve been able to recruit some children with amazing potential into these roles. OSHC Leaders will also support our OSHC Assistants and Educators in completin...g tasks such as putting the crossing flags out in the mornings. Happy Haven Hewett has recently collaborated with the Elsie Ey Childrens Centre and OSHC Leaders will be able to help with the morning set-up at the kindy as a service to the community action. This has unfortunately been put on hold due to Covid-19 but we are looking forward to adding this to our program. See more

10.01.2022 Another INCREDIBLE gesture from one of our Happy Haven families. The Goodalls have donated a huge number of DVDs and board games to help pass the time at OSHC. Its this kind of wonderful community spirit which makes our current circumstances not seem so bad. Together well get through this!

10.01.2022 ** Update ** It still remains unclear what will be in place in South Australian schools in the coming days during lockdown. The Education Minister will be able to provide more information to school Principals at approximately 4:00pm. At this stage, it does seem likely that care for essential workers and vulnerable children will be available at school sites. However, it remains to be seen if this is to be offered as a part of the OSHC Program, or as a part of the School Program. More information will be provided as it comes to hand.

09.01.2022 The children at Elizabeth North OSHC reflected on what ANZAC Day means to them. Their thoughts are reflected through the beautiful poppies they created.

09.01.2022 OSHC WILL BE OPEN for our regular hours tomorrow and Friday. That is, Before School Care (where offered) and After School Care. Schools will have skeleton staff on during regular school hours. Children at risk and children of essential workers should be the only ones in attendance. Please call your service's mobile upon arrival to school, so that they can take on / release your child and sign in or out as necessary so that you do not have to enter the school grounds. Monday and Tuesday seems to be classified as School Closure Days, but we are awaiting confirmation. We are also waiting advice from DESE (who manages CCS) as to how to manage any bookings during this time (during April Free Childcare was initiated, however there has been no word on any additional assistance for services or families yet).

08.01.2022 On the 25th of April 1915, there was a turning point in in Australias history. We cannot gather today to reflect on the contributions of the ANZACs who have contributed to war and peacekeeping efforts for over one hundred years. So, from our door to yours... Lest we forget.
