24.01.2022 Are you experiencing conflict in your professional or even personal life but sweep them under the rug instead of confronting them? If you are, then it’s time that you had a Courageous Conversation with those involved. These conversations are where you speak up about what you feel and what is weighing you down. However, more often than not, we are scared to have Courageous Conversations because of the stories we have in our heads. In this episode, we talk about the 5 steps to...wards having a Courageous Conversation. They can be confrontational with a lot of emotion involved. Through these tips and strategies, we can learn to better deal with what is going on in the mind chatter, step out of our comfort zones, and start these conversations. When we lean into the uncomfortableness, we can find that there are so many good things on the other side when you can have these Courageous Conversations. 24.01.2022 A friendly smile can make yours and another’s day.
23.01.2022 I have called Australia home for 10 years now. The first 6 of these I was terribly homesick. I was going back to Scotland at least once a year, sometimes only 6 months between visits. I was there that often that someone said to me a few years in have you moved back? You seem to always be here. The thing is, I thought I was homesick for Scotland, when in actual fact, I was homesick for me. I had morphed into this version of myself that I no longer recognised.... I had taken on the personas of what I believed a mother, a daughter, a Nurse, a wife should be. I had been unwittingly sold these personas by external influences. I was oblivious as to what was going on. The moment of realisation came just after my marriage had ended. I found myself a single Mum to 2 gorgeous boys on the opposite side of the world to my family. My initial instinct was to run, go back to Scotland to be with my family, but that would have meant I was separating my boys from their Dad. To the shock of everyone around me, I decided to put my big girl pants on and give things a go here in Australia. That was the beginning of my unraveling. Being on my own for the first time in a long time I started to slowly rediscover parts of myself that I had long forgotten, they had been buried under these personas I had unwittingly bought along the way. I got curious and started digging into my values, my beliefs, my behaviours and subconscious patterns. It was what I refer to as my great unraveling. The best part of all this is, I am no longer homesick. I love my life here in Australia and now call it home. I wasn’t homesick for Scotland, I was homesick for Elaina, for who I am at my core. Who I was before the world told me who I should be, and now that I know who I truly am again, I love her. If you would like to know how to hack this subconscious programming and realign with yourself, pop a in the comments below.

22.01.2022 Stories and storytelling have been around for centuries since the birth of human language. Yet we can sometimes forget how powerful storytelling is as a communication tool. You can learn the most valuable lessons when you listen to others through storytelling. In this episode, we delve into how good storytelling can be used as an effective communication tool for healthcare professionals and a way to build rapport with your patients. Therapeutic storytelling serves a powerful... purpose. Nurses are in a great position to encourage patients to share their stories which is an effective way to break down barriers in communication. To be a better storyteller you have to be a better listener. To be a better communicator, one must listen to learn, and not listen to reply. The link to the full episode is in the comments.

20.01.2022 Day 6 There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. John Lennon says it beautifully. At the end of the day, what we want as human beings is genuine connection, to be seen and heard.... In this podcast episode, we speak with Christina Foxwell of Ignite Purpose. Her vision is to change the way we engage people in business because people are central to the work we do, and without purpose we can’t live our best lives. We also delve into the power of vulnerability and authenticity to create genuine connections. Ultimately, that sense of belonging is up to you. Others cannot make you feel like you belong. You have to connect to your own self worth and do the inner work. Your power-up battery of who you are is not necessarily reliant on others but on your authentic self. When we grow, reflect, and learn about who we are and how we show up, we are then able to shift into a life of purpose and live the life we are proud of.

All we have is today. So find something good in today and you’ll discover that happiness and inner peace starts from within. The link to the full episode is in the comments.

06.01.2022 Day 3 Today I have a couple of quotes to share with you. There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create.
