20.01.2022 Sheep shearing at our farm with before and after pictures! These sheep are Southdown Hampshire Downs Crosses also called "babydoll" because they have been bred to be smaller - apparently more like the original size of sheep. Being smaller has advantages in both managing them as well as their grazing habits. On our small farm, there's plenty of grass so you can see these three girls are well fed! As for the wool, we save it to put on our compost pile to keep it moist. The wool breaks down naturally over time and becomes part of our organic soil.

13.01.2022 Life is springing up all around our farm over the last couple of weeks. Here's just a few of the animals including an echidna, (harmless) 2-metre long diamond python, a stick insect, a grey strike-thrush chick, a sleepy cod fish, and a view or our blooming orchard! After the dry and bushfires last year, it looks like everything is making up for lost time this year with the rains that have come at last.

07.01.2022 Happy Christmas from all of us at Harmony Farm. Wishing everyone peace, happiness, health and understanding, wherever you may be. Each year we try to make a Christmas tree from what we have on hand. This year we used handy prunings from our neighbour’s cypress hedge - made us an excellent ‘tree’

07.01.2022 A "drop-in" guest to our orchard. This collared sparrow-hawk (Accipiter cirrocephalus) decided that there was something in our orchard worth chasing. We're not sure how it got in but we were able to guide it out eventually unharmed. We have heaps of birds in and around our farm - several dozen species are found in this area alone. Creating more natural habitat has greatly increased their numbers and diversity. This is one sign of a healthy ecosystem that can help keep everything in balance including insects.

01.01.2022 Our nectarine plum is full of fruit but it was bursting out of it’s ‘too small’ fruit fly cover. So I’ve sewed a bigger ‘veggie netting’ bag and recovered the tree with plenty of spare space for the growing branches. We’re very excited to see such a good crop on this small relatively young tree
