25.01.2022 Jess and Bones met their next door neighbour today! Bones liked him so much he's jumped the fence (well, I've walked him next door) to go and hang out with the sheep for a while and help them in grass eating duties.

25.01.2022 Today the nice lady put a saddle on me. Still no cart in sight, she’s a bit strange. Anyway, I humoured her even though my friends had all been moved around and the cows were being fed. Also, her racetrack is really small...weird. Love Elvis (RocknRoll Saint)

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, Elvis here. Does anyone know what an iso-haircut is? Apparently I had one today and now I'm a 'real boy'. Also, on Saturday I had my first trot under saddle...still a little confused about where nice lady's cart is but seems she likes being taller than me. One more thing, chickens are scary ok? Today after my iso-haircut nice lady worked me and she mentioned she may have cut my brain off with all the hair but the chickens were out and oh man...a boy can't be too careful!! Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint)

22.01.2022 Hi everyone, I'm Elvis! I had a crack at the racing caper under the name of Rocknroll Saint but I dunno...something went wrong and they didn't want me to play anymore. I though I was pretty good but people said things like 'slow' to me so then the nice HERO lady took me to another nice HERO lady's house. I'm only three so have spent the winter hanging out with my thoroughbred buddy who gets a bit lonely when he's on his own. I've also put my energies into growing nice and tal...l, I think I'm over 16hh now. The nice lady came and did some stuff with me today. She did some things with ropes and then I did some walking and trotting. I dunno, she seemed pretty happy with how good I was with it all, it just seemed like the easy thing to do to me. She said I was so quiet she could get on me tomorrow. Not sure what that's about but I haven't seen her or any of the other horses with a cart yet. She also mentioned something about a makeover? I've spent ALL winter getting as muddy as I can and letting the fairies tie knots in my mane and tail. I'm not sure I want to look like I'm a cared for horse? I've quite enjoyed my bachelor winter. Anyway, she says my progress will go online. She says lots of things I don't understand but I'm a pretty friendly, easygoing guy so I'll just go along with it. Actually, if I'm going to be viewed by the public, maybe looking a little smarter wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

21.01.2022 Here's a post that makes all the schlepping out to feed in the wet and cold at the moment 100% worth it. Arthur, or Leo as he's now known came to me as a reasonably successful and very well bred racehorse called Yes it Was. He was always a lovely horse who was a delight to introduce to his new way of life. He was sold to a super new owner who after a year or so had a significant change to her work involving lots of travel so Arthur returned to me to find another new home - th...ere were tears. Around that time a client of mine in the Yarra Valley sent me a message asking me if I had anything going who was easy going and a nice horse to have around. Her neighbour was looking for a horse for her husband who was pretty keen to ride to the pub. I jumped on Arthur and rode him down the main street of Gordon, stopping to chat to people and also at the pub which he tried to walk into and sent her a message saying I think I have the horse for them :D The other morning Kym sent me a message and absolutely made my day: "Hiya, thought you might like some updates Leo pics (aka Arthur) been 1 year already since we collected him from you. He’s hilarious & reliable with some young horse quirks . Mostly still chilled despite lots of green grass. He also was the star at the 9 year old pony party and was so incredibly gentle with a special girl in a wheel chair with cerebal palsy. He’s incredible.. I’ve not had heaps of standy experience I know they are kind and versatile but he’s a stunner, I feel very lucky we found him." As I said, totally made my day.

20.01.2022 Quick update on where I am :)

20.01.2022 I can’t begin to describe how much I love all 17.2h of this horse. He’s done nothing for ummm let’s say 18 months. Bring him in at feed time in 6 degrees and ask him to help Justine with some horsemanship. He makes me smile every single day and for that alone I’ll probably be feeding him for another twenty years. Love you Legsy (Artistic Mover).

19.01.2022 If anyone's after help with their lovely standardbreds I'm back out there!

19.01.2022 You are not going to believe this! Today...nice lady SAT ON ME! Still no cart. Also, she has her own legs. This is very odd behaviour but I humoured her. We walked around for a bit, she gave lots and lots of pats and said what a good horse I was. Apparently I was quite comfortable...do I look like a sofa? Stay tuned dudes, I have suspicions this may be a regular thing. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint)

18.01.2022 Elvis (Rocknroll Saint) is an unraced rising 4yo. He’s had a lovely winter on a friends property being a horse and hanging out with his best thoroughbred friend. He’s a tall boy at over 16h with a little bit more growing to do I suspect but he’ll come in and learn about his new riding life in spring. He’s a super friendly and inquisitive boy!

17.01.2022 Beautiful Roo, he's a pin up boy now!

17.01.2022 Hi fans! Wow, yesterday was a weird day! Nice lady took me out on the farm and did some ground work near the dam and on the hills. Hills!!! I’m a standardbred, we don’t have hills in our world. Going up them was ok I guess but coming down was just weird! Anyway, as usual I did my best. I ended up all sweaty so had a hose and then I just couldn’t wait to roll in the beautiful grass. Also, she’s left me in a paddock full of cows for a few days....cows!! Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint)

16.01.2022 This is an incredibly important message for everyone in the harness racing industry. HERO isn't the only outlet for rehoming retired Standardbreds and regrettably the Program can't take on every horse that is offered. There are some excellent alternate options available, but people need to be so vigilant and do their homework before making important decisions around the future of their horses.

15.01.2022 Elvis here fans...hands up who has had an alien land in their paddock today? Just me then? My very favourite tree I enjoy hanging out and dozing under just FELL OVER today! It just stopped 'treeing'! I was in the next paddock with my girlfriend Cleo for a visit thank goodness but it was a hell of a way to end a date! We're both still running around with our tails in the air and snorting a lot. I'm also about 28hh if you're wondering how tall I am. Love Elvis (RocknRoll Saint).

14.01.2022 Today my feet were trimmed so the nice lady can ‘work’ me. Still have not seen a cart so not sure how this work will look? She also said unflattering photos of me will help people love me when I turn into a swan. I dunno, she’s a bit weird but gives excellent scratches. Love Elvis (Rock and Roll Saint)

12.01.2022 Hi peasants, I’m Jess. I have decided it's time I pushed that sop Elvis off his perch. He and his special name, pah, I didn't get a special name because I wasn't even interested in pacing OR trotting in a cart! I've been freeloading with the lady for a year or so now but she's said it's time for me to 'do something'. Apparently some people are interested in me but I figure it can't hurt to show everyone how cool I am right? The lady didn't think I was very nice two days ago w...hen I came in to work and was a bit hormonal and squealed and bounced for fifteen minutes but apparently today I was 'better'. That grass makes me feel VERY good and there's a new gelding who's a bit of a hunk next to me and my two girlfriends so it's been a bit like year 9 in High School to be honest. My other vital statistics are I'm 6yo, around 15.1hh (around 15hh wide currently according to that rude lady) and my daddy is Down Under Muscles and my mummy was Princess Yum Yum. She had to have been a 'yummy mummy' to produce something as nice as me! See more

11.01.2022 Ummmm, guys....guys....psst all you standardbreds out there...it’s Elvis here and boy do I have some news for you!! Today the nice lady did something more weird than normal. We did the C word! On purpose!!!! Have you ever heard such craziness? She was happy when I did the C word! Her racetrack is still very small and she won’t let me roll on it either which is disappointing. Anyway.....here it is, the C word on a strange racetrack. Nice lady says it’s good to show the bad along with the good. Bad?! Has she looked at how big I am and how many legs I have to organise? Sheesh, I think she should go and learn how to take a decent video personally. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint).

11.01.2022 All those who’ve purchased horses through the HERO program are eligible for these super awards!

11.01.2022 Hi fans, nice lady says I'm being a very good ridden horse! Sometimes I'm apparently a bit wobbly and like a gymnasts balance beam to ride but I think that just helps nice lady build her core muscles myself. I'm helping. I also appear to be continuing to grow. Nice hoof trimming man said 'he's a good 16.2 now and still hasn't filled out'. I'm eating all the grass I can to help but think I may need to be a tiny bit taller. It's my birthday later this month and I'll be four. Do you think I'll get a cake? I thought I'd send you all a photo of how flexible I am. I haven't seen that rude mare (she squeals at me and isn't very friendly at all) do this yet so clearly I'm much more clever. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint).

10.01.2022 Legs (Artistic Mover) is feeling super well at the moment and very much enjoying Spring! He spends lots of time 'self-exercising' in his paddock to the amusement of locals. One has asked if he used to be fed out of a Navara because he's always charging around when he sees that car. Nope, just being a noodle. Another said her 4 1/2 year old son loves him. I said he can come for a visit or they can go to the fence, he's super quiet (despite current shenanagins) and is incredib...ly gentle with kids. She said her son calls him Galahad. Love it! Here's Galahad of Gordon checking to see if I had a carrot in the car as I arrived yesterday.

09.01.2022 Toby has been visiting for a couple of weeks to have some buttons put on and for his owner to confirm he’s a safe horse for her. Last night she came and had a ride on him and was super happy which of course, made me super happy also! We had a conversation early on in the ride about her being able to be 100% honest with me if she didn't feel something was ok. My ego doesn't need her to tell me everything's great. I need to know I've given her back a horse she feels safe and confident on. That's my job.

08.01.2022 Nice lady says I’m doing super well in my riding work. I can trot full laps of the arena now, nearly without mishap, those corners come up very fast!! I still prefer chewing on stuff and wrecking stuff though. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint).

08.01.2022 Toby went home today, not before he made some new friends though!

07.01.2022 Nice lady says I only get to lick the bowl. Apparently I’m in such good pasture I don’t need a hard feed. Send help and food please. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint)

06.01.2022 I've had my good friend Felicity's little standardbred mare Misty here for a while to be started under saddle and sold. Misty hooked Felicity with her beautiful face in the saleyard and she purchased her from the meat man, saving her from a pretty sad end. She's the sweetest mare, had no race starts but some tendon issues are obvious so I'd imagine they'd tried her in work a few times and at 6 years old gave up. She was registered as Cullect Ransom, apt really given the price... Felicity paid for her! The best news of all is now Misty has found her own little girl to love. Willow has had two rides on her and she'll remain with me for a few weeks longer to head out on trail rides and some other experiences with Willow coming for weekly lessons. It feels pretty special to have been a part of this mares journey and to make sure both Misty and Willow have the best start to their partnership together. Felicity runs The Pointy End so make sure you show her the love for all your clipper/scissor/knife sharpening needs!

06.01.2022 Exciting times! I'd love you to head over and give the page a like and hope I get to meet some of you in the New Year!

06.01.2022 Something I'm very excited about commencing in 2021!

03.01.2022 Nice lady says I need to learn to go up and down hills to be a well rounded pony so check this out! She said I was like Pharlap in the sand dunes, I dunno who he is, a pretty clever standardbred from the sounds of it though?! I will admit to quite losing my mind for a little bit there and there is video footage of me doing ALL the gaits at once which I thought would make me even more clever. Apparently not. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint).

02.01.2022 Happiness is a nekkid day! Artistic Mover and pretend stb In Fine Nic making the most of some sun and no rugs!

02.01.2022 Joey had his first day of 'Prep' today! Read below....

01.01.2022 Hi all, nice lady had a bit of a rough week last week but I’ve tried to help her today by letting her know I can tie myself up anywhere. I had a week off last week because of the weather but I had some ‘work’ today and nice lady is having a ride tomorrow! Can’t wait! I get a bit tired after a few minutes of trotting though.... Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint).

01.01.2022 I don’t wanna go to school today!! I’m having a sleep in. Love Elvis (Rocknroll Saint)
