25.01.2022 Happy Saint Patrick’s day to you all. A spontaneous jam in a palliative hospital. The singer/ guitarist was a patient there. May Mark Dalton the High King of Highgate Hill Rest In Peace.

22.01.2022 Lovely to receive another 5 star review: Harpist Bart Seaton and Flutist Maddi Goodwin were outstanding and we would highly recommend them for any wedding. Bart was sooo easy to work with and both he and Maddi have an absolute passion for their craft. An absolute joy to have them play for us at our wedding. Thank you so much Nicky & Paul
20.01.2022 As seasons change, just a reminder to my students particularly those with pedal harps that the ideal humidity for harps (and probably pianos too!) is between 45% - 65% humidity. You can measure humidity levels in your harp room with an ogrometer. Enjoy! Bart

15.01.2022 Here’s yesterday’s ABC 7.30 feature on the Stairwell Project (Musicians in Hospitals) with which I’m very blessed to be involved here in Brisbane playing with Maddi as Duo Faun. Our motto for this work is less concert, more caress.
13.01.2022 Lovely way towards acquiring your first harp. Build it yourself with luthier Geoff Welham. His 36 String Para-Celtic harps are especially good. Recommended!
13.01.2022 Duo Faun resume playing flute & harp for Cancer Care Services in Oncology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital tomorrow.

12.01.2022 What do Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Leonard Cohen and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital have in common? This "testimonial to song and spirit" from a patient who was touched recently by the music of the stairwell project musicians in hospitals might clarify. Thanks to Andrea for this lovely piece and for permission to share it. Enough to make any harpist blush!
12.01.2022 Skype Lessons in piano & harp - available soon!
11.01.2022 Whenever you hear harp in movies (think ALL the James Bond films, Indiana Jones, Disney, or a catalogue of major TV series), it’s 80% likely to be played by Skalia Kanga. A phenomenal sightreader, she’s collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Elton John, played in all major London Orchestras, taught at the Royal Academy of Music over many years (in the lineage of Bocsha, John Thomas etc.), adjudicated major international harp competitions. It’s fair, in fact, to describe her as a living legend. Here she is interviewed by the Czech harpist Jana Boushkova who is herself widely regarded within the harp community as the greatest living harpist in the world, having been so for decades. This interview includes an original composition by Skalia Kanga and is highly engaging. Enjoy
11.01.2022 Still ironing out some technical, technological and musical issues. Enjoy sone harp music by Camille Saint-Saens. Recorded live on my confusing phone.
10.01.2022 One of the most beautiful, yet rarely performed harp concertos: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PKbRl8rg8GE
10.01.2022 Wonderful interview will Harpist Jill Atkinson who has been Principal Harpist with QSO since 1974 and shares valuable insights and reflections. Congratulations Jill! #QSO
09.01.2022 Tribute to Tavener with Soprano Amber Evans, performing ‘To a child dancing in the Wind’, Tavener’s song cycle of WB Yeats’ verse at QCGU prior to undertaking her Masters in Choral Conducting at Cambridge University and consequently completing her vocal studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Amber and I hope to regroup to perform this in Brisbane again soon. The first piece here is Tavener’s ‘Song Cycle for Gina’ performed with pianist Adam MacMillan. Kyla Matsurra-Miller (Violin) and Brienna Isokangas (Flute and Alto Flute) forming with me the supporting ensemble. Great to work with Amber Evans again six years on! A truly great musician and massive fan with me of the late, great Sir John Tavener. https://youtu.be/Hen2D3Qjwcc

06.01.2022 Our flute and harp Duo Faun are pleased to notice that this little clip of us playing an Irish air by O’Carolan in a local palliative hospital has had 1.5K views. More so, as this clip was taken by a patient. Feel free to listen & share this on for us! Folk can purchase our album ‘Into Stillness’ via the Shop Now button on our fb page ‘Duo Faun’. 03.01.2022 You have to work like the devil to play like an angel (Carlos Salzedo). 20 minutes practise 3-4 times a week being the bare minimum appropriate for a beginner. 30 -40 minutes daily being recommended. 1-2 hours or more of intelligent practise 6-7 times a week being a reasonable amount for a professional or student seeking to become professional. Happy practising!
