25.01.2022 FREE Hearing tests will be available at the Harrow Bush Nursing Centre on Friday October 16th. Bookings between 10am -2pm. Please ring 5888 2000 Even limited exposure time to loud noises can damage your hearing.... How do you know when to use Personal Hearing Protection? If, when in noise, you have to raise your voice to be heard at a distance of 1 metre. When the noise level is greater than 85dB(A) Noise injury and hearing loss is a significant problem in the Australian farming community. Hearing loss sustained from noise injury, can have disabling personal and social consequences for the affected person and their family. Research has shown that around two-thirds of farmers have a measurable hearing loss, or have on average, hearing levels 10 to 15 years worse than that of the rest of the population. Noise injury in farmers occurs from prolonged exposure to on-farm noise hazards such as tractors, chainsaws, firearms. Damage can be caused by prolonged and cumulative effects of noise over 85 dB over many years; or by instant trauma associated with peak noise levels over 140 dB. Exposure to excessive noise levels without protection, is an unacceptable risk to the hearing health of farming families. https://www.farmsafe.org.au/Noise-Injury-and-Hearing-Safety

It was important to us to include a local contractor in this project’, she said, ‘and to this we are very grateful Ultrabuild will oversee this build’. ‘We also thank the West Wimmera Shire Council for working carefully with us to ensure the project is complementary to the heritage value of the town of Harrow’, Ann said. In 2016, we commenced master planning for the expansion which is due to commence early 2021. The project will be managed by Architect, Jakob Kelly. Feedback from the community is always welcome throughout the duration of the project. A 3D model is available to view in the Centre as well as a fly-through video on our website - www.hbnc.org.au. Currently a poll is running in the Centre and on the Harrow Bush Nursing Centre Facebook page to gather feedback on the preferred brick type. This study is a result of their risk management considerations in relation to governance, management and operational viability concerns for the future. The study will look at the ability of current Board and organisational structures to maintain service delivery and meet increasing legislative, compliance and workload issues. importantly the study will investigate and make recommendations as to whether there are better options r alternatives for the three Centres to consider. A consultant will be appointed to facilitate the study, and this has been fully funded by Department of Health and Human Services, following discussions and requests to them from the Centres. The Boards wish to inform their communities that this study is a result of their work in looking to future sustainability. It is not being carried out at the direction of Department or Government but in response to requests by the Boards who are thankful for the financial support provided as we look to ensure the continued delivery of access to isolated rural health.
