02.01.2022 CYCLING INJURIES Foot pain in cyclists is very common. There are two main foot concerns seen - 'hot foot' and plantar fasciitis. Hot foot is a burning, numbness or painful sensation on the underside of the foot. It is caused by pressure on the nerves that travel from the ball of the foot to the toes. This is normally caused by tight shoes or incorrect cleat placement. Our podiatrists can help by giving you correct footwear advice. ... Plantar fasciitis is when the thick band of tissue that runs along the underside of the foot becomes overly tight or damaged. In this case, our podiatrists are able to help relieve tightness and can provide custom orthotics as a long-time solution to support the arch of the foot and prevent undue stress. Are you a cyclist and experiencing pain in your foot? Don't just pedal through! Come and see one of our podiatrists so that you can ride pain-free. Simply call us on (08) 6269 2038 to make an appointment.
