23.01.2022 This year's calendula seedlings are looking on point! This is the second year of growing calendula from our own seed and from the looks of the roots on these little fellas, the seed is strong This year we're growing calendula for cut flowers as well as for dried blossoms. 22.01.2022 And @northarmfarms_nv 2021 weekly veg boxes are off to a good start despite the rain (has anyone noticed the several 100mls of rain predicted for the next 5 days!!!?). @autarkyfarm @themandarinbend and yours truly are back into full swing farming game and today we are packing and delivering your fresh organic veggies around the #nambuccavalley. Our carrots are looking pretty good although during harvest yesterday we came across more than a handful mushy, rotted out carrots ...in the ground. That's a first for us. 22.01.2022 We found a home! With the current rental crisis hanging about the mid north coast we knew that relying on our community to help us out was the only way we'd find a home that suits us. Some good friends have lent us their bell tent and their back yard whilst we prepare for the next chapter. We haven't share housed for years, not since having a child anyway and not surprisingly we're enjoying the change thoroughly. With three little monkeys running around there is never a... dull moment, duties are shared, including trampoline time and Tansy is in heaven with so much space to explore and little friends to antagonize. 21.01.2022 It's that time of year again, #garlicharvest! With such a small crop this year, the total harvest and processing time was 1hr 40mins which was quite a relief in this 30degree heat. 20.01.2022 #cherrytomatoes are coming on nicely and with warmer days they will be sweetening nicely. Alex has been experimenting with two methods of growing tomatoes on trellises. We'd love nail growing epic tomatoes they are a very valuable crop and I'm sure most people will agree that you just can't beat homegrown toms. 10.01.2022 As our growing season comes to an end I'm finding more time to forage and potter. I've been creating these flower hoops from things grown in our garden and wild harvested from our valley. They're really fun to make and they bring me great joy. 09.01.2022 Our long awaited first time family holiday has come to an end. Since starting our market garden and becoming parents 3ish years ago, we haven't taken more than a few consecutive days off the farm. Yesterday we arrived home after TEN glorious days spent visiting dear friends in the hills of Nimbin, catching a ferry and camping out on Minjerribah (north stradbroke island) and to top it off a fantastic weekend with family and friends at Point Plomer where we managed to sco...re some sweet waves with dolphins and celebrate a 30th birthday as well as the news of a new family member to come! This is just what we needed, sun, surf, seafood and sitting around doing not a whole lot other than enjoying each others company and relaxing. 08.01.2022 Happy little capsicum seedlings in the nursery. We've not tried growing them in the spring through summer so we're interested to see how they go. We've not not had a whole lot of luck with previous crops, they're very susceptible to fruit fly and sunburn. They're also a long season crop which means they ultimately have to produce a good long lasting yield to make them economically viable in the market garden. 01.01.2022 2021 veggie boxes and markets will commence in March for us and the @northarmfarms_nv collective! The nursery is filling up with little seedlings, a bit of a push for us before we take off on our very first family holiday. Spring onions and wombok are two new editions to our crop this this year along with our regulars; carrots, beans, beets, cherry tomatoes.
