25.01.2022 We need one of these in Burnside!

24.01.2022 Eastside Business Enterprise Centre is now Propel SA.

22.01.2022 At the launch of Propel SA. Great to see the City of Burnside, City of Campbelltown and Town of Walkerville supporting small businesses in East Adelaide.

22.01.2022 Some better photos of the Burnside Bahai Community event.

20.01.2022 Very pleased that we agreed to freeze rate increases.

18.01.2022 Free lemon from a resident at our Lascelles Avenue footpath street meeting this morning. I took Cr Paul Huebl’s advice on what to do with it

17.01.2022 Do you want to see helicopters in historic Kensington or over The Parade? Have your say on the proposed helipad for the Peregrine office tower by 13 March. To l...earn more, attend an information session on 18 February. To view the Public Environmental Report, fact sheet and submission form go to the website below. A hard copy of the report is available at the Council office for viewing. You may remember that the State Government gave this office building 'major development status' back in 2017 which bypassed local planning authorities. This provision used to be reserved for state-wide projects of importance such as ports or mines. 17.01.2022 Proposal rejected 4-1. Good!

17.01.2022 Water for native animals at The Common for $10k is my top pick.

16.01.2022 Looks like it will be a great event and a good cause.

15.01.2022 Finally found the time to plant my purchases from the City of Burnside native plant nursery sale. The verge outside my house is dry and shady, so I’m hoping these local woodland understorey plants will do the trick.

13.01.2022 Sneak peak at the Regal Theatre refurbishment. Painting going well, carpets on order, new seats should arrive in June in time for July reopening. Well done to council administration for taking advantage of the enforced shutdown.

13.01.2022 THE CODE IS STILL A DOG’S BREAKFAST. (With acknowledgement of and apologies to Leunig) Well, the attempted resuscitation of the draft Code, in the form of a ‘Co...de Amendment Update Report’, finally appeared in the DPTI Portal on Monday 23rd December......four days late, and two days before Xmas Day. No doubt the timing of its release was crafted in the hope that it would be obscured by festivities and holidays. This new missive does nothing to clarify the draft Code, or to make it more accessible and comprehensible to the community. In its attempt to paper over the ever-widening cracks in the Code, it is a morass of spin and inconsistency. If anything, it highlights the massive problems engulfing DPTI and the State Planning Commission, without offering plausible explanations or solutions. It adds another layer of complexity and confusion to the planning ‘process’, while again confirming that policy development is still fluid, flexible and changeable. Rag-tag policy on the run. Surely we deserve better than this. See more

13.01.2022 State Planning Reforms - what a shocker! Check out Burnside Council's analysis of what they will mean to you here: https://engage.burnside.sa.gov.au/state-planning-reforms

12.01.2022 What a great picture! Favourite time of the year.

12.01.2022 40th Anniversary of the Tonkin Government. Dr David Tonkin was MP for Bragg (which covers most of the Burnside Council area) from 1970 to 1983.

09.01.2022 Good report! A helipad in a residential idea is a terrible idea. Is it really worth the risk?

09.01.2022 It's a good thing that this historic building isn't in South Australia. Under the State Government's new regulations, property developers could demolish it as "the structural integrity or condition of the building represents an unacceptable risk to public or private safety and results from actions and unforeseen events beyond the control of the owner and is irredeemably beyond repair".

09.01.2022 These proposals are an utter disaster. Say no to 200 square metres minimum block size in Linden Park.

08.01.2022 Great news for Linden Park and Beaumont Ward as Burnside Council votes to go forward to community consultation for a community garden (and ancillary tree grove) at Laurel Avenue! Thanks to the Linden Park community for driving this issue and to my co-Councillor Paul Huebl for getting it done. Paul's page here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php... At about -1.27 hours on the video of the council's meeting if you don't want to watch the whole thing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO_17lcSXDY

08.01.2022 Great work by the Burnside Historical Society! Glen Osmond and Mount Osmond (among other places) were named after him.

08.01.2022 What a wonderful evening at the Burnside Baha’i Community’s celebration of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh. Great impromptu speech from Mayor Anne Monceaux, standing in for Vickie Chapman.

04.01.2022 Article with my fellow ward councillor, Cr Paul Huebl, in the Autumn 2020 Burnside Focus newsletter on the State Government Draft Planning Code and its particular impact on Linden Park - on page 12: https://www.burnside.sa.gov.au//Burnside-Focus-Newsletter-

04.01.2022 Time to stop, consult and get it right please, Minister Knoll.

04.01.2022 I don’t want to be one of those immigrants who go on and on about how much better things are in the old country but I shall have to make an exception in this case! Try demolishing a Grade II listed house in the Old Dart. Good luck! Run it down and the local council will compulsorily acquire it and charge you for the cost of the repairs.

03.01.2022 Excited! The Mayor turns on the Burnside Illuminations tonight.

02.01.2022 The City of Burnside is lobbying the State Government for better heritage protection and hopes you can help by having a say on the new Code at www.saplanningportal.sa.gov.au
