23.01.2022 Our focus last week was continuing to build on our fine motor strength. Fine motor skills are necessary for many aspects of self-care as children, for example: putting on shoes, feeding themselves, cleaning their own teeth. Fine motor skills are also critical for the development of emergent writing. We did this all in a fun yet messy way- through Finger Painting. The children used the paints to make patterns which were then transferred onto paper via the printing process.

16.01.2022 IT’S WARMING UP Just a reminder to all parents/guardians to please ensure that your child has a SunSmart broad brim hat labelled clearly with their name ready for outdoor play & excursions! If possible it’s best to have a hat that lives at the service in their hat bucket so it’s always there when needed ... For those asking Hastings Childcare & Community Kinder hats are also available for purchase from the office for $10

14.01.2022 Understanding the reasons behind biting can help us work out how to best approach it. Biting is a normal behaviour especially for children teething. Below is a great summary of the feelings and emotions behind biting behaviours. If you have any concerns about biting please do not hesitate to speak to your educators directly. They can help provide strategies to best support you & your little one.

Climbing frames have many benefits for the children’s development including: Improved dexterity gripping the rope & hand holds ... Boosting confidence as the age appropriate frame provides an opportunity for calculated risk-taking. The children gain independence & pride in their achievement. Developing physical strength & gross motor control. Encouraging problem solving & spacial awareness as they navigate the best way to move their body across the frame. #hastingschildcare #kindergarten #earlylearning
