17.01.2022 SOME BRUSHING TIPS TO REMEMBER! - Brush twice a day, morning and night. In the night, before bed, is the most important time to brush, as going to sleep with food particles in your mouth is heaven for bacteria. It feeds on the food in your mouth making you more at risk of developing tooth decay and gum disease. - Always use a soft bristled toothbrush with a small head and flexible neck. As these are more effective at removing the plaque in hard to reach places.... - Angle the toothbrush at a 45 angle along the gum line and brush in a circular motion gently. Don’t scrub. Take care to brush carefully along the inner, outer and chewing surfaces of all your teeth. - It’s also very important to brush your tongue as it reduces the bacteria in your mouth and helps your breath stay fresh. - After 2 minutes of thorough brushing, spit out the remaining toothpaste and don’t rinse out, as leaving some of the toothpaste on your teeth can help with some extra protection. http://hastingsdental.com.au/

04.01.2022 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BABY TEETH AND PERMANENT TEETH Baby teeth are naturally whiter than permanent teeth. Permanent teeth not only have a thicker enamel, but the layer under the enamel (dentin) is also more dense and yellow in colour.... This gives the permanent teeth a colour slightly more off-white, egg-shell or yellowish colour than the baby teeth. You can really perceive this when a child has a mixed set of baby teeth and permanent teeth. The shape of the teeth is also a tad different. When the permanent teeth erupt, they usually have a number of small bumps on the top, known as mamelons. These generally wear off over time. Another big difference between the baby teeth and the adult teeth is the number of them.
