08.01.2022 Local spotlight Conquering the stage at a venue near you it’s all too rare to find artist’s like Lionel Baker these days, whose music speaks volumes both lyrically and melodically. Effortlessly engaging the crowd with his emotional performances, Lionel presents a format of his own unique flavour of pop, utilising catchy hooks and well-crafted melodies. ... Lionel has been gigging throughout the year with his band, Zach Krilcic (drums), Ben Hunt (electric guitar), Aaron Empson (bass guitar) including new addition, Catie Martin (cello), and also working hard in the studio to deliver his debut EP, which is set to drop next year. Catch Lionel Baker and his band at their next major gig at Workers Geelong Friday 15th November, featuring Rach Brennan & The Pines. You don't want to miss this one! 01.01.2022 local spotlight In our search for local talent we got the chance to ask Gemini the Josh some questions! Here's what he had to say -----> You recently finished up with a band and started performing as a solo act. what has been the most challenging aspect for you during that transition?... ~The most challenging part of that whole process was getting the drive to actually set up the social media, platforms and services that distribute my music. Aside from that it was emotionally challenging considering I've been in bands since the age of 13, So I'd have to say the "hardest" part was going from a "Wolfpack" to a "Lone Wolf".~ What is it you are trying to achieve with this new project, Is there general theme or lyrical message you're trying to convey? ~Honestly I'm just trying to get my music to reach the masses. I want to make people sing and dance to the songs I write, and the general theme in trying to keep for that notion is a Cruisy and uplifting type of vibe! The endgame is to make a living off of this project but that's probably stretching it a little! ~ I'm curious about your song writing process, what inspires you to the write the music and is there a unique method to writing your material? ~This is tricky, my mind is woven with so many complex thoughts and ideas that the songwriting process for me happens in the spirit of the moment; eg. There's been times where I'm completely busy with something like eating dinner or washing dishes etc and all of a sudden I have a melody and or rhythm or progression just pop into my head, as soon as that happens I run to my studio or get my phone out and hit that big ol' record button to save it and work on it as much as possible until it's completed!~ What would you say your biggest musical influences are? ~I have a lot of influences when it comes to idols and musicians I want to be like! But my absolute BIGGEST inspirations are INXS, The Babys and The Beatles! Simply because the songwriting and sound for each of these bands blows my mind everytime I hear their material! I will divulge that when it comes to vocal inspirations there's only one Artist that takes the cake for that & it's John Farnham, the voice of our country!~ Have you got any upcoming releases planned? ~Absolutely! I've been working my butt off and have a release set for this year NOV 8th a song called "Where I Wanna Go" and also I have a couple of tracks getting recorded and in the pipeline at the moment for a 2020 release. Next year is going to be huge for a lot of serious artists, I can feel it ~ If you haven't heard the man in action we highly suggest that you strap yourselves in for a unique experience you'll find no place else!
