20.01.2022 Can you believe it's already been three weeks since Challenge Week? Time has flown by! Today, we'd love to hear your favourite moment of your Walk experience this year. Was it a particularly wonderful training session, or maybe the feeling of successfully completing your Challenge? Let us know in the comments!

20.01.2022 Have you heard about Dr Ciara Duffy's promising honeybee venom findings? Dr Duffy published a paper in the NJP Nature Precision Oncology journal, proving that honeybee venom rapidly destroyed triple-negative and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells. While this is an exciting discovery, it will take a lot more work and support from people like you before it can be used in treatment. But the question is, what can we do to support researchers like Dr Duffy further their work to help the women in our lives? The answer is simple - be a bee! Buzz around your friends and family for support and busy yourself with your fundraising to help us raise $1 million for women's cancer research! Share the social tile below to let everyone know that you're a busy Perkins Bee, committed to maximising your impact for breast and ovarian cancer research.

20.01.2022 Walkers, tomorrow is an important day for us at the Perkins. World Cancer Research Day is a time where research institutes like the Perkins band together to raise awareness of lifesaving cancer research and promote the important work being done to improve survival rates, reduce the incidence and improve the quality of life for people living with cancer. By taking part in the Hawaiian Women's Cancer Challenge, you are making a huge contribution to helping us fight women's cancers. And for that we are truly grateful. But please don't stop now. This week, we're hoping to smash our previous fundraising records for the Walk. Let's show WA's generosity and spirit, and raise $1 million for women's cancer research at the Perkins. Together, let's make history.

20.01.2022 Your support of women's cancer research is helping researchers like Associate Professor Pilar Blancafort and her team. Pilar's lab is focused on developing approaches to target hard-to-treat breast and ovarian cancers, including triple-negative breast cancers and ovarian cancers. Currently, the only targeted treatment options for these cancers are chemotherapy and radiation. With your help, Pilar and her team are working to change this. In a recent study, the team developed... a drug delivery system that targets specific cancer cells. Using this system, they were able to ‘switch on’ genes that were not as active as they should be in breast cancer patients. It is their hope that they can one day use this treatment to help women diagnosed with breast cancer. Your support is the reason that they can continue to hunt for the answers that can keep our loved ones with us for longer. Their research is also being supported by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, who are targeting zero breast cancer deaths by 2030. In just 10 years, breast cancer could become a non-lethal disease. And your efforts through this Challenge are directly contributing to making this possible. Share Pilar and her team's vital research with your friends and family using the tile below to share why it's so important that we support women's cancer research at the Perkins.

13.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and today we're sharing some important facts for you. Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, accounting for an estimated 14% of all cancer diagnoses this year. While breast cancer has a relatively high five-year survival rate for patients at 91%, there is still a lot more work to be done in developing kinder and more effective treatments.... Because of you and your incredible work this year, our research teams can continue working toward these improved treatments to keep your mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, cousins and friends with you for longer. Thank you so much for your wonderful support - together, we are making a difference

13.01.2022 And last but not least, we're sending a very special thank you to Dianne Wynyard! Dianne rallied the town of Russell, New Zealand, to support her walk in the Hawaiian Women's Cancer Challenge, completing her walk to the cheers of her community. For those of you that have followed Dianne's Challenge journey, you will know just how amazing her hard work is. Dianne has been battling cancer, and as a side effect from her treatment, developed clots in her lungs that gave her a g...reat deal of trouble breathing. But as Dianne started out, she slowly built up her speed and her kilometres. Her fitness increased, and after a while, she no longer had any trouble breathing! Dianne crossing the finish line was more than a great achievement for women's cancer research. It was a personal achievement that showed just how far she's come. Thank you so much to Dianne and her daughter Glenda for everything they've done to support cancer research at the Perkins. We loved hearing your updates, and hope to see you both at next year's Walk. Take a look at the video below to see the moment that Dianne completed her walk.

11.01.2022 Speaking of amazing walkers who have taken on incredible challenges, look no further than the team at Jack in the box, led by Scott Robinson! Scott and his team walked an incredible 200kms across Challenge week to celebrate Jack in the box's 20th anniversary, and to support women's cancer research in memory of Scott's beautiful mum, who the team sadly lost in 2017. Today, we're thanking the whole team at Jack in the box for their truly incredible support and determination to make a difference for cancer research. Take a look at the video below to hear more from the Jack in the box team about what inspired them to take on their Challenge!
