04.01.2022 A projectABLE workshop will be held here at Northmead CAPA High during Periods 1-3 on Friday 26 May, 2017, for students interested in finding out more about careers in the disability sector. ProjectABLE workshops are an initiative of National Disability Services as a response to the expected 70,000 new jobs created as a result of the complete roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) by 2019. About projectABLE: projectABLE workshops are free 3 hour workshop...s led by people with disability for all students in years 10, 11 and 12 . Our aim is to: 1) build disability awareness in the community 2) promote social inclusion and 3) introduce students to the diversity of roles available in the community care and disability sector which is one of the fastest growing workforce in Australia due to the introduction of the NDIS . What will students do/learn in the workshops? Students participate in hands on activities, group exercises, down-to-earth discussion with people with disability, Q&A with workers in the sector. Every student will receive a Certificate of Participation and free access to the online www.carecareers.com Disability Induction Course.
