24.01.2022 THE RETURN OF HAMILTON BASKETBALL SEASON DATES Junior basketball will return on the 1st of February 2021, the HBA committee and the junior committee have decided this will be a short season with no finals , the season will run term one of school , 1st of February to the 29th of March then a second season starting on April 26th. We urge parents to contact club representatives ASAP if your child wishes to play, team entries are due by 5 pm December 18th, A...NYONE WISHING TO PLAY AFTER THIS DATE WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE SECOND SEASON. Information on the senior competition will be posted soon. THE ASSOCIATION NEEDS YOUR HELP The HBA committee has asked that all parents please take 15 minutes to complete the online covid safe certificate, the more people we can get to understand the rules around covid will certainly help the association. We are also asking for volunteers to help with court supervision and Bio security officers, the more volunteers the easier the season will run . Without volunteers it will be impossible for the competition to start. Shortage of umpires is going to be an issue as well, an announcement will be made soon for umpire training for anyone that is interested. If you would like to volunteer or umpire please contact Michelle HBA OFFICE 0411982467 or [email protected] HBA President Dusty Miller

24.01.2022 ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION Clubs have been notified to start organising JUNIOR teams so please advise them of your interest in playing this great game again! HBA is being as proactive as possible given the current circumstance. The entry of teams now will allow for the quickest start to playing again, whenever the start date may be.... Also in big news, a new 18 and Under competition has been devised due to no senior indoor sport being allowed for a while. This gives those who have finished U16's and those playing seniors, that are eligible, to continue playing basketball. It will be great for local development of local talent. Stay Safe

23.01.2022 Attention all Members and Parents of the Hamilton basketball Association. As we are all aware junior basketball is due to start February 1st, at this stage the committee has had one volunteer put her hand up to help out as a covid officer, if we don't get a lot more volunteers in the next 3 weeks the season will not go ahead. The committee WILL NOT and CAN NOT possibly do this without your help, so please if you can spare a couple hours a week please contact Michelle. [email protected] or phone 0411982467 HBA President Dusty Miller

19.01.2022 Basketball Australia has confirmed today that the 2020 Australian Under-14 Club Championships, scheduled to be held at Casey Stadium in Cranbourne from 28 Septe...mber to 3 October, will not go ahead this year. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, states and territories have been unable to hold the necessary qualifying competitions for representative teams. While sport has been able to resume in some states, there is insufficient time for the majority of states to be able to undertake a fair qualification process that would enable the championships to proceed.

09.01.2022 Basketball Victoria has further updates relating to domestic basketball and representative leagues, programs and events including VJBL, Big V and Country Championships. Due to Stage 3 restrictions and the extension of the State of Emergency (until 11 May) by the Victorian Government, the Autumn and Winter 2020 domestic basketball seasons are suspended until at least 31 May 2020. This date is being regularly reviewed and updated. Our primary concern remains the health and wel...lbeing of the basketball community and the return of grass-roots basketball when it is deemed safe and appropriate. With these two principles in mind, both Big V and VJBL have been postponed until 31 May with the next update set for 11 May. As previously announced, the NBL1 2020 season is cancelled. We hope to reschedule Country Championships, Under-14 Skills Days and Regional Academy where possible. At this stage they are postponed until 31 May with the next update set for 11 May. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult situation.

07.01.2022 Hamilton Hurricanes Squad Season The HBA Board made the difficult decision tonight to postpone our squad selection process and season until our domestic competition is up and running. We know that this is disappointing for many, but we also know that everyone understands that these difficult decisions need to be made. We will continue to keep our members updated and hope to be in a position to review this decision soon.

01.01.2022 At the conclusion of our AGM on Thursday 6th August, we will hold a general discussion around the possibility of a return to basketball. We invite anyone who is interested in having a voice in this discussion to stay on the line at the conclusion of the AGM.

01.01.2022 BVC COUNTRY CHAMPSIONSHIPS 2020 - CANCELLED As you are aware, on the 13th March, Basketball Victoria suspended all programs, events, and competitions across Victoria and this included the BVC Country Championships, U16/U18 Division 3 and 4, U12 and U14 age groups. Shortly after, the Federal and State Governments introduced strict conditions which further impacted basketball in ... this state and across Australia. We are hopeful that we are now slowly coming out of the Covid19 pandemic, but we will live with various restrictions for some time. Basketball Victoria Country is currently working with many associations and the focus is on the resumption of domestic basketball in Country Victoria. This includes developing Venue Safety Plans, a Return to Sport Guideline and providing submissions to Stadium owners and LGA’s to consider the cost of our basketball activities. We have also been involved with Sport and Rec Victoria in lobbying for the sensible easing of restrictions across indoor basketball venues. BVC has reviewed all scenarios in conducting the remaining 2020 Country Championships and have concluded that the focus should remain on the domestic participation and look to move our squad and representative programs into preparation for 2021. BVC also conducted a survey of Associations and this survey overwhelmingly supported the move to cancel the 2020 Championships. Basketball is an essential part of our community and will play an even more important role as we all try and seek some enjoyment in life through the extremely challenging times that lie ahead. We will continue to act to ensure the viability of our Associations now and into the future. See more
