Chiropractic is a nationally registered, primary health care profession that involves the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of not just the spine but the entire body. A Chiropractor is a drug and surgery free modality that focuses on the relationship between the musculo-skeletal system, which include the muscles and ligaments in the body, and their function as coordinated by the nervous system.... The aim of a chiropractors treatment is to provide a better quality of life for the patient either by correcting an injury, reducing pain and increasing the bodies function and range of motion. Chiropractic is for the whole family! How do we treat the body? There are many different techniques we use here at The Healesville Chiropractic Clinic which allows us to use the strategies that best suit the individual patient and their specific condition. These techniques include: - Spinal manipulation. There are multiple ways to manipulate a joint and these include manually, which involves applying a short, directed thrust gently into the joint, sometimes causing a popping sound and low force manipulations, which involves using devices such as the drop piece or the activator to gently correct the joint. The low force manipulations don’t cause the popping sound. During the consult we can discuss which option is best for you. - Soft tissue techniques including massage trigger point therapy and dry needling. We always incorporate these techniques into our treatment as we feel it’s important to correct both the joints and surround soft tissues to get the best results as there work together in the same system. - Exercise or stretching program to help strengthen and keep the area mobile to maintain the progress we have made with the treatment and help prevent it from reoccurring.
