24.01.2022 Men are more forgetful than women. Numerous studies dedicated to comparing the memory abilities of men and women consistently prove that men are more forgetful than women. One 2015 study published in The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology hypothesizes that this could be due to the varying brain structures of men and womenspecifically, that the hippocampus (the part of the brain associated with memory) begins to decrease in volume faster in men than in women. #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW

20.01.2022 Wisdom teeth serve no purpose. They’re left over from hundreds of thousands of years ago. As early humans’ brains grew bigger, it reduced space in the mouth, crowding out this third set of molars. #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW

19.01.2022 Did you know that the children of identical twins are genetically siblings rather than cousins? This is because they share 25% of their DNA. Full siblings share 50% of their DNA, half-siblings share 25%, and cousins share 12.5%. Thus, they are the genetic equivalent of half-siblings. #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW

18.01.2022 You typically only breathe through one nostril at a time. You might think that your nostrils share the workload when it comes to inhaling and exhaling. And while they do, it's not quite in the way that you might expect. You actually inhale and exhale through one nostril at a time, according to definitive research published in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings in 1977. Every few hours, the active nostril will take a break and the other one will take over until they ultimately switch back again. Put your finger under your nose and try it. Prepare to be amazed! #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW

13.01.2022 The human body has incredible regenerative powers. For example, your entire brain replaces itself every 2 months; your liver, every 6 weeks; and your epidermis, every 35 days. Even your stomach lining replaces itself every 3 to 4 days. If your body didn't do this, the strong acids used by your stomach to digest food would also digest your stomach! And speaking of your stomach, did you know that your stomach acids are so strong that they can dissolve razor blades? #Didyouknowfacts

Never forget what you want to cover with your GP - Take your time documenting each health concern before your appointment. 08.01.2022 A tick bite can make you allergic to red meat. There are plenty of food allergies out there, but few are the result of an insect bite. In a strange and growing trend, some people who get bitten by the Lone Star tick develop a sudden allergy to red meat, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Beef, lamb, pork, and goat (which are technically classified as red meats) can make people with this allergy experience vomiting, cramps, difficulty breathing, and hives. In severe cases, it can cause the person to stop breathing entirely. For some people, the allergy fades over time, but for others, it's permanent. #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW

05.01.2022 Nice hot cuppa Conventional wisdom may tell you that if you are hot, drinking something cold will cool down your body. However, research has shown that on a hot day, drinking a hot beverage may help your body stay cool. The reason being that when you drink a hot drink, your body produces sweat to cool down your body temperature. Initially you may be adding heat by drinking the hot liquid, but the amount of sweat that your body produces to cool down more than makes up for the added heat from the liquid. The increased perspiration is key; when the sweat evaporates from your skin, it is able to cool down your body. #Didyouknowfacts

05.01.2022 Did you know that the little blue pill (sildenafil [Viagra]) can also make cut flowers stand up straight? What is perhaps more amazing is that researchers actually studied this. They found that only 1 mg of the drug (compared with the 50-g dose used by men with erectile dysfunction) dissolved in water can double the life of cut flowers, making them stand up straight for up to 1 week longer than they usually would. The same held true when they tested sildenafil on strawberries, broccoli, and other produce. ref: https://www.mdlinx.com//10-weird-and-wacky-medica/lfc-5134 #Didyouknowfacts #HWBW
