25.01.2022 DRY ROASTED SEEDS with Tamari . Firstly if you have never had these they are just the bomb, YUMMO . ... + Here we have some sunflower seeds and pepitas! (Pumpkin seeds). Dry-roast them separately in a pan on slow heat until golden or they pop. They are ready. Add Tamari (good quality soy) in the pan to taste! Stir gently with the tamari for a few minutes; again thinking happy thoughts a bonus for yummy wholesome food for yourself or cooking for others. 22.01.2022 It's so true and to trust yourself, work with the breath into the belly, the mind into the belly and keep working on developing that deep core strength!! With so much information and mis-information out there about the virus, the conspiracy theories, people fighting because of differences in opinion (wow, there is so much of that going on lately), we really need to keep working on getting in touch with our truth, the Hara and our deep belly power!!!

22.01.2022 Lower back pain can be a debilitating issue. Most people over 40 have some kind of deterioration in their spine, which can include disc issues. You will only feel pain though, if a nerve is being pressed against. You can build the structure around the spine muscularly and maintain some flexibility within those muscles and this will limit discs becoming squashed due to gravity and muscle tightness pulling the vertebrae down against each other. This is the best possible 'gif...t' we can give ourselves - working the spine and keeping it flexible. Aging happens very much from the spine and if you lose mobility in certain areas of the spine, the nerves that branch from that area, won't be able to work as well toward where they are supposed to. Every part of your spine relates to a different area of your body as I've mentioned before. Just the mid back alone has a relationship to your heart, lungs, gall bladder, liver, stomach, pancreas, spleen, adrenals, kidneys and small intestine!! Imagine is some of that had a nerve or two that was being squashed. The organ and other related functions are then going to be inhibited. Lower back pain is helped by opening up the front hip flexors (psoas classes) as well as creating a strong core. We also need to use the muscles of the back by lying on the belly and lifting upper body and legs to activate those muscles. Twists are also great for squeezing out the old blood from the discs between the vertebrae, so that fresh blood can come in to nourish the spine and those discs, to help keep them full and juicy. Try to do some work on your spine with strengthening and lengthening at least 2-3 times a week. If you keep up with classes, you will have that covered for sure. This why I always say to never dig your heels down when we lift the bum lying down with straight legs and not try to lift too high. This is creating some lengthen WHILE you strengthen. You do need to stretch the spine with plough and sitting up and trying to touch your toes, kidney or bladder stretch as well. Kidney stretch is one leg at a time, bladder stretch is both legs while trying to keep your bum down. The piriformis stretch is also good for the outer hips and lower back all videos I posted up during the first lockdown

08.01.2022 Energy... This is energy exchange between two people as they talk. Notice the woman has all her energy going to the man. She is listening, present and completely involved in their conversion, his energy and what he is doing. The guy on the other hand, has some of his energy going toward the woman, some of it flying past her as he thinks of other things or is distracted by what is behind her and other energy going toward the dog.... When you are with others, are you present like the woman or is your energy moving to other people and other things like the guy? The woman will feel this and may feel exhausted or walk away with some negative energy and may not be quite sure why, while the guy will walk away full of energy and uplifted due to the energy exchange that has just occurred. I've spoken about being present during your yoga and in that case, being present and feeling everything that might happen in rest poses, holding poses and even during the moving poses, will give you better results in a similar way to energy exchange between two people. Notice, this week though, what you energy exchange is like with others. Are you giving them your full attention or is it everywhere else? Also notice if they are giving you their full attention or if they are elsewhere. It's pretty easy to spot those who are on their phone while you are talking to them, you already know that doesn't feel great. But having your attention in other places while in a conversation with someone is pretty much the same thing - it's just a little less obvious. Let's continue with full presence and see if you can do that in your life with others and start to become more aware of when your energy is elsewhere and when other people's energy is elsewhere when it should be with you.

01.01.2022 Vegetarian quinoa paella So easy 1 pan 40 mins tops !!! Ingredients... 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 medium white onion chopped 2 - 3 garlic cloves minced 1 cup chopped baby bella mushrooms about 6 - 8 mushrooms 1 can chickpeas, drained & rinsed 1 can diced tomatoes (I used fire roasted) 1 can artichoke hearts, in water 1 cup white quinoa 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/2 teaspoon saffron threads Salt & pepper to taste 2 cups vegetable broth 1 cup frozen green beans 1 capsicum sliced Juice of 1/2 a lemon optional Instructions Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauteeing until onions are translucent, about 2 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for another 2 - 3 minutes until the mushrooms have started to soften. Once mushrooms have started to brown, add chickpeas, tomatoes, artichokes, quinoa, paprika and saffron. Season with salt and pepper and stir everything together. Add broth and stir again to incorporate. Bring mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce to simmer for 20 - 25 minutes, until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Remove the lid and stir in the green beans. Smooth the top of the paella with your spoon and arrange the sliced capsicum on top. Cover again and cook for another 10 minutes. When ready to serve, squeeze lemon juice on top and serve immediately!
