18.01.2022 When nature provides the perfect party platter for the kids birthdays.
17.01.2022 It's not all sunshine + family days when you're a mum. There's weeks when all you seem to do is snuggle on the couch with your tired little babies, when life is too much for them + their immune system takes a hit. When all they want is to be physically attached to you, at any cost. Velcro. And you bring the laptop + try to work and cuddle them at the same time, but a laptop doesn't operate well when a child is sharing the same space.... The child doesn't fare any better, either. So then you just stop and cuddle them, and hold them, and amazing things happen. The laptop can wait. I get challenged by trying to "do it all", to be complete in all aspects of my life and lose focus on the real goals at times. We're lying to ourselves if we say this doesn't happen at times. And truly lying to ourselves when we say, oh but I MUST do this, or finish that.... These lessons remind us to just be. Be present. Sit with that moment and see what happens. When these moments happen, it's always a reminder to stop and pause and review. What has made you pause + review your priorities this week?
16.01.2022 Breaking your Fast. This happens for all of us every single day. "break-fast"... Ultimately, we fast every day between meals and whilst we sleep. Choosing how we break-our-fast is a powerful statement to our body in how we support ourselves. Our body needs time to heal and support itself in other ways when it isn't digesting food. How often do we give it that time + space to do this, or are we always looking for that next evening snack? Believe it or not, loading up with processed cereals + breads every morning to start our day actually creates a lethargic response, even for our brains. What are we doing for our children when we insist on finishing that weetbix or toast? We need to understand how to choose consciously about what foods we want in our bodies to start our day. Fresh fruit is easily digestible, contains pre + pro biotics naturally, and gives a balanced release of energy for our body. Super hydrating as well, so it's a great starter. Choosing to break my fast daily when I actually feel hungry is a powerful way to tune into my body and really listen. If anything, we eat waaaay too many calories, and don't consume enough nutrient density. Start listening in every day to those real hunger cues. Drink water first, and listen again. Smoothies are a gentle solution to waking up our digestive system. It doesn't need to contain 20 ingredients. Keep it simple. Water, flax seed, oats, cacao nibs, bananas and greens powder was my vote here. At 2pm! After lots of water from when I woke in the morning. What's your favourite way to break-fast?
