15.01.2022 This week is National Diabetes week. We would like to continue to help raise awareness and support those who have diabetes. There are around 1.7 million people in Australia living with diabetes and for every person diagnosed, there is at lease one person who takes on a support role. The complications of diabetes can be extensive and it can also be a challenge to manage which leads to stress and often anxiety. This year, Diabetes Queensland is focusing on the mental and emotional health of those living with the condition with their Heads Up on Diabetes campaign. It all starts by having a conversation and having a better understanding on - if not us - what our friends and family may be going through on a daily basis.

14.01.2022 The cooler weather and easing of restrictions makes it a prime time to get out and about and to increase your incidental exercise. All movement is important an can help improve your health. Heres what Ive been doing to increase my incidental exercise: - We have been walking to our local shop rather than hopping in the car. -Ive been in the garden a lot, prime time for planting right now. Gardening is a great way to get more steps, do lots of squating, lifting and bending.... - we pick the car park spot at school that means we walk a lot further, even if we drive past free spots. - Do the above at the grocery shops - Walk around the garden when taking phone calls. What do you do to increase your incident exercise?

10.01.2022 Food for thought... When prescribed correctly exercise had the potential to impact multiple body systems, providing many benefits in one hit. Completing a session of exercise is like taking 10 different medications. It is both preventative and a treatment all in one. #exerciseismedicine #exerciseright2020 #healthmoves

08.01.2022 Compelling evidence that shows us commencing regular exercise in combination with dietary changes can put type 2 diabetes into "remission". This is not new info, but further info to back up why we say exercise truly is medicine! Our AEP Ben Collins has completed extensive training in exercise for type 2 diabetes. He has recommenced his face to face Type 2 Diabetes specific group classes and is also delivering online sessions so distance does not have to be a barrier to exercise.
