06.01.2022 Anxiety and Panic Attacks Anxiety can affect people to varying degrees of severity some feel so terrified that they feel sick or even vomit, unable to think, w...ords won’t come out, need to isolate themselves, start shaking or break out in a sweat, their vision becomes blurred or they are unable to move or become dizzy or hysterical. Sadly anxiety is a very common debilitating condition in today’s society. Those with Severe Anxiety will often start suffering a week or more before the event and by the time the event happens are absolutely beside themselves. Some by this stage are in such a state they cannot even leave the house. 03.01.2022 OUR GUT HOLDS THE KEY TO GOOD HEALTH Why is the health of our gut associated with our general health and well being? Our gut is a very complex organ of our bod...y it starts at the mouth and ends at the anus. If we laid out our gut it would be anywhere from 250 - 400 square meters in size and it is our body’s largest microbial interface. Did you know that you have 150 times more genetic information in your gut microbiome than you have in your human genome. There have been over 1000 bacterial species identified so far, of which 30 - 40 species make up the bulk. Most of today's individuals may only have approximately 160 species and some having a very low diversity of only 10 species. The reason for this low number is due to the treatment of our Drinking Water, Antibiotics, Drugs, Sanitation, Formula Feeding, C-section, Pesticides, Heavy Metals, Chemicals as well as Poor and Processed Diets low in fresh vegetables, salads and fruits (which are all rich in fibre and prebiotics). There are two major categories of microbes Resident (indigenous) and Passenger (Transient). 01.01.2022 You have probably heard of the saying "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT" well it actually goes a lot further than this. I like to say "WE ARE WHAT WE EAT, CAN ABSORB, CONVE...RT AND UTILISE". We may have the best of diets but if our genetics are causing us to have a loss of function in converting nutrients out of our food into a form the body can use, or if you don't have enough enzymes or stomach acid or your gut is in such poor health that it cannot do the job it's meant to do, then you are still going to be nutrient deficient. Another factor to consider is our over farming and chemical and pesticide use and the fact that often our our foods are kept in storage for very long times makes the foods we eat not as nutrient dense as it should be. So now, more than ever, we need to be ensuring that everything that we put into our mouths is nutrient dense. We all need to be consuming a very high vegetable and salad diet with adequate animal protein about the size and thickness of the palm of our hand. Too much and you may find that you are not consuming the correct balance. In my Clinic I see a high percentage of people being protein deficient and not eating anywhere near enough high fibre vegetables and salads.
