25.01.2022 Really looking forward to reading Rick Morton’s book ‘My Year of Living Vulnerably’. Remember fellas, we don’t need to harden up, as that limits and hurts us. We need to hearten up and embrace being human. Because we are.

15.01.2022 Wangaratta people...

11.01.2022 This was very much me not so many years ago. Faking fun, smiling as a mask, joking as a diversion. It only made me worse over time, and eventually I fell apart completely. As the writer asks, It seems strange to think that people can be very depressed with all the debilitating symptoms that entails yet manage to hide this, sometimes even from family. Is their depression as real, or as valid, because they manage to go to work, to smile, even to crack a joke? I think it... is. There may come a point when even the happy depressive will crack, unable to maintain that facade any longer. But does that mean they suffer less when smiling? No: in fact, the strain of keeping up appearances, the weight of a misplaced sense of responsibility to others, can be one of the most onerous aspects of mental ill health. The loss of the smile may even be a relief. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #depression #stress #anxiety #wellbeing

01.01.2022 So proud of everyone who got involved with Hearten Up Wangaratta and undertook mental health first aid training in 2020 Look what we did together not only are we growing mental health knowledge, skills and confidence in offering support, but the wider community is benefitting and commending your work So proud of everyone, and putting together plans to *hopefully* continue the training this year too
