It's my dream to live in a home that backs one, one day. I don't think there's another Australian city that has this special feature.

22.01.2022 When is the best time to get family photos? The short answer? ANY TIME!!! The long answer? There are certain key moments that lend themselves to a celebratory photo session. Milestones like a new arrival, turning one, first lost tooth, matching a session you did with your first or second child, before the end of primary school, to celebrate an anniversary, braces come off, before they leave home... they're all prime times to book a session. But so are non-milestone times in ...life when you feel like your family is super connected, the kids are getting along really well, you love summer (or any other season), you just feel it's time... etc etc. There's really no such time that's bad for photos. There are just times that might be more significant. But the reality is, once those photos are on the wall, THOSE moments become significant. Because you captured them. No matter whether it was a milestone, or the textbook perfect time, or anything like that. Those moments go down in history. Those moments form part of your children's memory book for when they're grown up. Those moments. These moments. What do you want to remember?

21.01.2022 Ever wondered what OUR walls look like? (Probably not, but I'm going to show you anyway!) As you will know if you've been following us for any length of time, wall art and albums are our thing. We pride ourselves on being a studio that provides solutions (ie, finished artwork) rather than problems (ie, USBs only). Our position comes from personal experience with our own photos and family memories AND from over 20 years of experience in the photography industry serving familie...s. I wish I had the stats to prove it, but I can confidently say that the vast majority of people who purchase USBs from a photographer will never ever print the photos. Why? Because it's hard work and it takes time. We believe if you pay a professional to take amazing photos of you, part of the service should be to provide a beautiful finished solution. Alls that to say... we practice what we preach and we have many pieces of finished artwork on our walls from our own family sessions. Here are just a few of them...

20.01.2022 Time to talk about a very important topic. Perinatal anxiety and depression affects 1 in 5 mums and 1 in 10 dads. Earlier this year PANDA received a 20% increase in calls to their helpline from parents who needed support. This was likely due to the bushfires, followed by the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, putting parents under even more stress than normal. ... PANDA provides vital frontline help to parents, and vital support and resources to health professionals to help diagnose and treat perinatal anxiety and depression. Having suffered from postnatal anxiety myself not long ago, as well as hearing many experiences from friends and associates, I know just how crucial support, diagnosis and treatment is, and also how important it is to make this subject NORMAL, so we can talk about it. I didn’t even know postnatal anxiety was a thing until a few years ago, and I am certainly not a stranger to the subject of mental health issues! When anxiety and depression is normalised, it will be easier to resolve it. Prevention is always better than cure, and early intervention can save lives. For the past two years I've been using the platform my small business provides to talk about this important issue and to raise money for PANDA. Last year we raised just over $13,000. Having lived in Canberra for 23 years, and worked with families for 12 of those years, one of the most obvious things I notice that is so many families are here on their own, with no support from other family members. It makes things so much harder when you're trying to manage all-of-the-things. 20.01.2022 Now that winter is over, morning sessions are becoming hot property again! Did you know... our morning shoots are scheduled for 8am all year around? If you want to start earlier, we can accommodate, but we find 8am is the happy place for most families... morning families that is! We do have to be more mindful of where we do your session when we get into summer because the sun is already quite high in the sky by 8am, but 8am is a good choice to avoid doing your session in th...e heat of the afternoon. And here's a hot tip, right after daylight savings starts, the 8am timeslot has the most magic light for a few weeks. #hinthint

17.01.2022 When kids dress themselves. These outfits had me dropping compliments as soon as they stepped out of their car. And then once I'd spent 5 minutes with them, I realised what a perfect reflection their outfits are of their cheeky, chatty and fun-loving spirits! Just for fun, show me your kids' most creative outfits and I'll tell you whether they're suitable for a photo session or not.

16.01.2022 Kids being kids. They make our job SO fun and also SO funny! Sometimes parents worry about their kids misbehaving on a photo session, and yeah, very occasionally it happens where a kid might get a little bit carried away and throw a rock in the air (or something like that), but we are SO tolerant and SO patient with (other people's) children, and we actually prefer them to be a bit wild because it's the most sure way of really capturing their true essence. Experience tells u...s that very few parents actually want a photo of their child sitting stiffly with a fake smile - that's what school photos are for, amiright? We want your children to climb and jump and give you big sloppy open mouthed kisses and roar like a dinosaur and lose their mind in a fit of giggles because that means they are having the time of their lives. Which helps YOU relax. And helps us create magical portraits that tell the story you're living every day. So you can look back and smile with your all your heart.

We love seeing families connection with their land, and how that allows us to really capture the environment in a creative way. I just loved his curious little expressions - he's a boy who wants to know the world! And his parents are doing the most amazing job of loving on him and each other. It was so beautiful to capture.

06.01.2022 We know and understand parents' anxiety when they come in with a toddler and a baby (the most unpredictable of all family photo timings, but the one we probably photograph THE MOST, ha!!!). No matter what, we always capture something special, something real, and something that will make you smile with every inch of your body. Hands up if you've had a session with us where you thought at some point 'OMG MY KIDS - this is a disaster!' And then when you saw the photos, you were... gobsmacked at what we got! (It actually happened to our family not that long ago, on our own family photo session with our ratbag toddler and grumpy tween, and it's why I hired the photographer I did, because EXPERIENCE means everything!!!) It only takes a split second to capture a magic moment.
