10.01.2022 Welcome to the facemask age! As our daily lives now involve wearing facemasks anywhere aside from our houses, there isnt any surprise that we have many questions surrounding them. Some things to note about wearing those pesky BUT useful face accessories: It is still important to practice good hand hygiene techniques (washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap) before putting a face mask on, and after taking one off! This is to ensure that any germs that were on your han...ds before, arent going near your mouth, and if your facemask had any on it from use (as this is the whole point of wearing them). After you put your mask on, it is best not to touch it until you are going to take it off, and replace it with a new one, or wash it. This is again to prevent any contamination coming close to your face/ airways. Disposable masks are SINGLE USE ONLY and should be disposed of in the rubbish bin by touching only the elastic straps, and then performing hand hygiene. Some common problems people are facing with these masks are oily or rashy faces! To combat this, its important to have a regular skincare routine. Wearing masks keeps dead skin, oils and moisture from breathing close to our face, which can cause irritation and blocked pores. Washing your face with a cleanser morning and night, and moisturizing in the evening is a great way to ensure your skin is staying clean, and your pores keep unclogged throughout the day. A triple layered mask is best, however any covering is better than none! It is important to contain droplets when people are coughing, talking or sneezing away from other people, and make it less likely for COVID-19 to spread. So unfortunately ,even though it sounds like you are whinging, it's the only way that you can communicate how you are feeling. I work in pharmacy and everyday I hear the staff say.,... hi, ...how are you ? as a matter of course in their job, the number of people that respond with their real feelings and details of their ailme...nts are a minority, because they don't want to burden others with their pains and complaints. However, I...do...listen and I sympathise with people everyday, not because it's my job, but because I genuinely care about people. Our pharmacy's motto is "we don't employ people to be nice, we employ nice people" I work in a community pharmacy,not in a warehouse chemist,so I know the difference between a quick buck or a caring environment. 04.01.2022 Spring time!! We have come to the lovely time of year where all the flowers are in bloom, the birds are outside, and our HAYFEVER friend says hello. Some symptoms of which can include runny or blocked nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, and rashes. There are several ways to treat hay fever; including antihistamine tablets, eye drops or nasal sprays. Consult one of our friendly pharmacy assistants or pharmacists to decide which treatment method is best for you.... How to get the best results from medicated nasal sprays: Blow your nose into a tissue to try and clear it. Use a saline spray first, which enables you to clear out the passages of your nose to make sure the medicated spray can be most readily absorbed by the cells in your nose. Make sure the nozzle of your spray is pointed at an angle (towards the outside of each nostril). Close the other nostril by pressing the side of your nose shut and breathe in gently as you spray. *Make sure you wash your hands before and after the administration of nasal sprays. ** Remember to NEVER share nasal sprays between people, each person in your household should have their own separate sprays if they are required.
