25.01.2022 Dear All. This is to inform you all that sadly Faye Gaston passed away last Saturday morning, 27th June. The funeral will be held at Woronora Crematorium , South Chapel, on Monday 6th July at 11.00am.... Our condolences go out to Dennis and the Gaston family. Those wishing to attend are very welcome.

24.01.2022 "The committee of the Sutherland Shire Small Bore Club wishes all of our members and guests the best health during the COVID-19 crisis. For the continuing health and safety of our members and guests, the club remains committed to the social distancing guidelines as set down by the appropriate government agencies and will stay closed until such restrictions are lifted." All the best, SSSBRC Committee

19.01.2022 Just a reminder; due to COVID-19 restrictions and the need to keep club members, their families and the broader community safe, the SSSBRC is unable to accommodate any P650 shooters or any non members who wish to shoot. The Club's Presentation Night and AGM are also postponed until COVID-19 restrictions ease.

19.01.2022 The cooler weather bought the crowds back! Full details for both prone and bench-rest competition.

14.01.2022 ...the more you cover the non-aiming eye with a blinder the wider the iris of your aiming eye will open. (thanks andrew!)

11.01.2022 It is with great disappointment that the committee at SSSBRC have decided that due to COVID restrictions the 2020 Illawarra Open Championship for Benchrest & Prone Shooting which was to be held early November is to be cancelled. We appreciate your support and hope to see you back at the range when restrictions are lifted.

11.01.2022 Dear All, It is with caution that we inform you that our range will re-open on Sunday 21st June. (The Sunday coming). Unfortunately, with social distancing still a priority, we will be unable to offer any one-on-one supervision/coaching. This means that we are unable to support any P650 shooters at this stage. Sorry, no try-outs, no prospective new members.... Please, only registered club members may attend at this stage until further notice. To adhere to social distancing guidelines we will; - Accept no more than 20 members at any one time and all members must register on arrival (you may miss out). - Allow one detail per attendance and ask that you leave the range immediately afterwards. -Enforce Covid-19 Health Protocols (distance, wiping benches etc.) ** members should not attend if in the last 14 days they have been unwell or had close contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

11.01.2022 Thanks to Albury Small Bore Rifle Club. https://www.facebook.com/748097898585599/posts/3394332193962143/

10.01.2022 Dear Friends, It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Louise Vandergraaf, the much loved wife of our great club member, Mark Vandergraaf and cherised mum of their boys. Louise fought a courageous battle against cancer that tragically, she couldn't overcome. Louise's funeral will be held on Thursday and although the limit of 100 places has been filled, please keep Mark and his family in your thoughts.

07.01.2022 NSWSARAI RESTART QUESTION. 13/05/2020. Although we shooters class the 50 metres event as outdoor, it is only classed as such because the bullet travels outdoor, we ourselves are effectively indoor. We have a roof and three walls.... When the shutdowns started the NSW Office of Sport sort advice and was directed that shotgun ranges were classed as outdoor but ranges with roofs and walls were indoor. At present the NSW Government has only reduced restrictions on some outdoor sporting activities, we do not believe that this enables the majority of smallbore rifle clubs to reopen at this time. We need to remember that breeches of orders made under the Public Health Act of 2010 is a criminal offence and attracts heavy penalties. A question was raised about the insurance position. The association’s insurance covers members while they are carrying out a lawful target shooting activity. If a club was to begin shooting outside of the governments directions than this would no longer be a lawful activity and the policy would be null and void. This would create another serious problem in that the Firearm Act requires a club to maintain adequate insurance. If a club breaches this requirement the club could be closed permanently. When the NSW Government decides it suitable for indoor sporting activities to recommence clubs must follow any strict guidelines issued by the Department of Health. As well as the official guidelines but not limited to following this association recommends the following; No sharing of rifles or equipment. ( if equipment is shared each item will need to be cleaned and disinfected between each individual use.) It is unlikely that P650 will be able to be used for a very considerable time as the use of these requires close individual supervision and the supervisor is required to handle the rifle before and after the person on the P650. Benches for bench rest shooting will need to be cleaned and disinfected between each user. Dennis Claxton Chairman.

01.01.2022 Dear All, The Committee at SSSBRC have made a decision that in light of the current situation the rifle range will be closed for all shooting activities until further notice. This decision will be reviewed after the Easter break and personnel advised of the decision.
