25.01.2022 We love our Preps and here at Heatherton Christian College, we are committed to partnering with our students (and their families) on their journey of discovery. With innovative programs that are both engaging and motivating, our students enjoy being part of a dynamic, enterprising Christian School. It is our honour to walk alongside our students as they begin their learning journey. Share this video or tag someone who needs to enrol their child at Heatherton next year!
24.01.2022 We were honoured to celebrate our magnificent Year 6 students on Monday. It's been a year like no other and they have showed incredible resilience, grace and love for another. We were thrilled to be able to celebrate the end of their primary schooling with a blast before they head into Secondary School.
24.01.2022 Congratulations to our students in the graduating Class of 2020 who have received their VCE results today. We are very proud of not only your results, but particularly proud of your efforts and the character and faith that you have displayed both this year and in your time at Heatherton CC. You have had to show tremendous resilience and perseverance in your studies to simply get to this stage of your journey, and this has been particularly so with the additional challenges of 2020. We are so thankful for your contribution to the HCC community over the years, and look forward to seeing what God has in store for you in the future. Well done the wait for your results is now over and we pray God’s blessings on you and your families in the days ahead.
23.01.2022 Please enjoy a few Digital Design pieces from some of our Year 9 and Year 10 students.
23.01.2022 ~Heatherton @ Home - Term 3~ Following the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and Department of Education, students in Grade 1 to Year 10 at Heatherton Christian College will learn from home from Monday 20 July until further notice. Learning packs for Grades 1 to 6 and Secondary Art students will be available for collection from the auditorium from 10:00am on Thursday 16 July. Named packs will be laid out in class order for collection. Please ensure that these are ...collected by 3:30pm on Friday 17 July as students will need it in order to complete their work. Secondary students in Years 7-10 with textbooks and folders in their lockers, will be able to come and collect these on either Thursday 16 July or Friday 17 July. All students collecting items from their lockers are required to sign in and out of the Compass Kiosk in the auditorium and have their temperature checked in the College office. College devices are available for loan if required. Please collect them from the College office during College office hours as there will be forms to be signed. As we move back into another period of uncertainty for students, families and staff, we will continue to focus on what is most important - the health, wellbeing and education of our students and the health and wellbeing of our staff and families. You can be confident that your child will continue to receive an exemplary learning and personal growth experience, whether on campus for our older students, or remotely for our younger ones. It will again be a time that tests us, but our community was unified in its approach to the last period of disruption and we are sure it will be the same again now. Thank you in advance for your support of our staff and College. This is a fast-changing situation, so we will seek to keep you up to date with any developments as they occur.
23.01.2022 ~ Heatherton Update ~ The Victorian Government has announced that there will be a further tightening of restrictions in view of the Covid-19 situation in Victoria. This includes a continuation of remote learning for students and a return to remote learning for all VCE students from this coming Wednesday 5 August. This situation will not impact those students in Prep to Year 10 as we have and will continue to operate Heatherton @ Home, until at least the end of Week 9 of this... term. Our College Leadership team has made the decision to not have a whole school Pupil free day tomorrow, Tuesday 4 August (although Government schools will be), but to continue with remote learning classes as usual. Our VCE students (and Year 10 students doing a VCE subject) will be informed before midday today as to whether they will be required to attend their particular VCE class on Tuesday - some VCE classes may need to take place (e.g. where SAC preparation or practical work is required), whilst other VCE classes will be cancelled to enable teachers to prepare more fully for remote learning. Hence, the next 2 days of the week will look as follows for the College student community; Tuesday 4 August Prep to Year 10 Heatherton@Home remote classes. Year 11 and 12 VCE students to be advised if their VCE class will be required to run onsite or will be cancelled for the day. Wednesday 5 August Prep to Year 12 Heatherton @ Home remote classes for all students. Onsite Learning We will also be continuing our onsite learning program for students whose parents are required to work or whose learning may be at risk. Parents will need to continue to pre-book students in the week before for this. With further announcements from the Government regarding business and work, the requirements for students attending will be tightened up by the Government, we will advise parents accordingly. Please contact us at school if you have any further questions. Otherwise, we encourage us all to continue to pray for the health, safety and wellbeing of our community and fellow Victorians, as well as for all of our students staff and families as we return to a remote learning environment for the next period of time
22.01.2022 At the end of Term 4 students in Years 3 through 6 experienced an onsite adventure camp. Students had the opportunity to grow in resilience and independence as they made decisions relating to building shelters, solving orienteering based challenges and racing billy carts. We were able to reinforce and extend a variety of classroom lessons and to further develop social skills such as co-operation, tolerance, communication, individual and group interaction during activities ov...er the two days. Students' understanding of their physical and cultural environment was extended as they approached the tasks associated with rock wall climbing, obstacle course racing, and kite and paper airplane building and flying. The camp program promoted self-esteem, resourcefulness, independence, leadership and judgement. They also had a lot of fun!
22.01.2022 The theme for National Science Week 2020 was Deep Blue: Innovations for the Future of our Oceans. Throughout this week, students celebrated with a variety of activities such as trivias, science competitions, artwork, creating board games, creating video presentations, and many more. One of our Grade 6 students decided to write a rap on the effect that plastic pollution in our oceans has on people, animals and the environment. We hope it encourages all.

Despite being unable to hold this event, our Primary students and teachers decided to make it a special occasion! They chose to show some love for their grandparents or special friends.

15.01.2022 A huge congratulations to one of Heatherton Christian Colleges Grade 4 students, Zachary, for being selected to participate in the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra (APO) Virtual Play-in of Radetzky March by Johann Strauss Sr. The APO Virtual Play-in involved over 250 musicians from across the world and our very own Zachary was one of them. This achievement also resulted in Zachary being featured in the local newspaper, Dingley Dossier - https://www.dvnc.com.au/i/Dingley_Dos...sier/July20_online.pdf I felt nervous at first because the music was very challenging, but I still wanted to give it my best shot. When I knew I was going to be part of the play-in, I could not believe it! I hope to be able to be part of a real orchestra one day. Music makes me feel relaxed and happy and it also gives me a sense of accomplishment when I master a challenging piece on my instrument. Zachary. We are incredibly proud of Zacharys achievement and continue to cheer him on his musical journey! The Virtual Play-in can be found on the APO website or on YouTube - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yo9TXQzuo0

10.01.2022 ~Heatherton Update~ We are facing a rapidly changing situation in our city and are closely monitoring the situation. Unfortunately, the number of infections are continuing to rise. With this in mind, we feel that, for the safety of our students and staff, we have no choice but to revert to remote learning for our Preps at this stage. Please note that this decision will be reviewed on a regular basis and when we believe that it is safe for our Preps and their teachers to retu...rn to face to face learning, we will do so. Furthermore, the government advice remains in place that it is safe for our VCE students to attend school at this stage. We will continue to monitor this situation carefully and, should we believe that the risk is becoming too great, we will return to remote learning for these students. Should you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact our College office on 03 8551 6650.
09.01.2022 A staff member created this sketchnote for herself of simple, practical and effective ways to help increase her wellbeing whenever she feels overwhelmed, sad, or anxious, especially during this season. She felt to share it with our HCC community with the hope that it helps and blesses someone else too. 2 Corinthians 4:16 - 18... That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and wont last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we dont look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. See more

01.01.2022 Some of us, especially our Grade 4 students, may have been wondering how our chickens are fairing during this lock down. We are happy to announce that our chickens now have cage free spaces to roam around. Theyre that much happier enjoying some worms and laying extra happy eggs. A huge thank you to Mr Clark for all his work on this, as well as cleaning up our garden beds ready for our students return.

01.01.2022 There are 40.3 million slaves in the world today, more than at any other time in history. Despite the best efforts of abolitionists across the centuries, the buying and selling of human beings for profit is booming. Exploitation is no respecter of gender, age, race or status. The Year 10 students of Heatherton Christian College are passionate about this issue and believe that every young person deserves to live a life that is free. Each student is taking part in a Slavery Awa...reness Challenge to raise awareness about slavery in their community! Activities include exercise challenges, sports challenges, musical challenges and more. Our students have also teamed up with the organisation, Ping Pong-A-Thon - a virtual table tennis event that supports the work of several amazing organisations committed to protecting and caring for young people impacted by modern day slavery. Here are a couple of ways you can join our students efforts, show some support and/or encourage them: 1. Visit their fundraiser page and donate: https://pingpongathon.com/heathertonchristiancollege 2. Spread the word! Share what our Year 10 students are doing.
01.01.2022 While most of our College will begin Term 3 next week remotely, our VCE students have been back hard at work onsite.
